    Question Sony Vaio S Series

    Hey,

    I'm trying to a find a nice laptop that can serve well as something I will use for work/buisness aswell as be able to play games decently. I know I should really get a desktop for gaming and that I could get a beast gaming computer for the same price but I'll be travelling quite a bit soon so I wont be able to take it with me.

    I've come across a Sony Vaio S Series with these specs;

    Intel®Core(TM)i5-3210M, 2.5GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.10 Ghz with 3 MB L3 Cache
    Number of Cores: 2
    320 GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm) <<<<<Should I change this to 7200 for +£50
    12GB RAM <<<<<<<<< The RAM was a free upgrade by sony, same price as 4GB
    1920x1080 Res HD Screen (15.5")
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 640M LE 2 GB

    The price tag is; £998, I know I could get a possible better gaming laptop with a 660M for that price but I really do love the sony vaio s design and it's not bulky, also I get a 10% discount making it around £900.
    This is a custom laptop as thew 15" isn't available as a model with the 640M LE 2GB.

    I was just wondering, is this good enough to run say Guild Wars 2 when it comes out at a solid 40FPS~ on say medium?
    Also, should I upgrade the HDD to 7200RPM?

    I doubt it would run GW2 on medium, but it might. I used to have a 13" Vaio S and it struggled on DOTA2 on medium/low settings at 1600x900

    Telling us which country you're from would help, Sony is generally very overpriced when it comes to laptops.

    The CPU is the lowest end i5
    Change the HDD to a 7200 RPM

    He's obviously in the UK, hence the pricetags in pounds. For more gaming-oriented laptops that can be customised, i'd look over at mysn.co.uk.

    It's a german retailer that recently opened a UK store.
