Transmutation and Gem Store Items

I failed to explore this when free gems were available during the first two betas and I see that the GW2 Wiki states "works with any item" under its definition of transmutation. Having said this, I'm still wondering if items bought from the gem store, e.g. sunglasses, pirate costume, can be transmuted with actual stat items?

No. Cosmetic items (Sunglasses, boxing gloves, outfits, ect) from the story go in the slots for your Town Clothes, ie no combat-suited. The Transmutation stones work on all actual gear, within the armor type restrictions. The "works on everything" part concerns levels, if i am not mistaken. Normal transmute stones, the ones you get from acheavement chests and ect, work on items with lvl requirement 1-79, and the fancier stones from the shop have no level restriction, other than the heavy-to-heavy armor looks rule.
