Looking for a Laptop, need help

I just want a Laptop for the purpose of typing reports, storing music/photos, and DJing at home for fun. Maybe light WoW playing (Questing, Dailies) for when I'm away from my Desktop. I'm just not sure what to look for, as I have no experience with Laptops.

At this point, I was just considering saving up and buying a MacBook Pro, but I just can't bring myself to it. Any recommendations would be much appreciated, I'm pretty much lost at this point.

Hey, can you give me your budget, what you want to spend and your max budget? thanks.

Also, would you like an ultrabook or a normal laptop. An ultrabook is usually way more expensive, but comes with an SSD. SSDs speed up your boot process and a lot of the system by a lot. However, I could find a laptop with an SSD cache that would in sense do the same.

HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 Quad Edition Entertainment

I'm looking at this one myself and the specs and price are REALLY NICE.

Theres another version, the dv6t, which has a 15.6 screen and is about a hundred cheaper, can customize it to have the exact same specs as the dv7t just with a 15.6 screen instead of a 17.3 or w/e.

Let's say, for conversation purposes. $400 to $850ish.
I wouldn't mind an Ultrabook. I actually like their aesthetics, and faster is always better. IF that narrows it down any.

@Above While nice, not sire if it's in my budget. Or at least, it wouldn't be for a month or four. ._.

possibly that one? I'm just lookin at the HP ones in the same category as the one I may be getting. All of these will go up a couple hundred if you upgrade the processor/graphics cards which you'll probably have to for some smooth WoW gameplay.

Not bad. In a decent price range, I'd have to see what would come of it with upgrades. WoW gameplay doesn't need to be great just enough to do pet battles and solo. My Desktop will handle raids and such. Thanks, I'll keep that one in mind.

If you want a pure SSD laptop: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-S3-951-68...2&keywords=ssd

If you want a bigger screen (15.6" compared to 13.3" above), and an HDD/SSD combo, then this: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/c...ECA862A0BEEA8D[COLOR="red"]

    http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/c...1FBDB172571912

Is really cheap and good for Wow and anything else. It has a 5400 RPM HDD but no SSD (not needed if you don't mind). A GT 555m, and an i7 @ 2.2GHz (I'm assuming an i7 is good for the DJing. . . but I don't know :\).

    ------------------------

This is good, too. It's refurbished but slightly better than the GT 555M. Only slower by .2GHz, if you don't mind refurbished, this is really good.

Asus ultrabook great for regular computing powerful enough to run wow on low-normal settings, maybe not enough for 25 man raiding. It's as sleek and slim as a macbook without the added of bonus of not being a macbook.

Samsung series 7 if u want a super portable windows tablet, it gives the ipad a run for it's money with an ultra responsive touch screen that can replace most wacom, if you do digital art it's something to look into and ask about.

Thanks for the input, I'm liking the lenovos.
I'm also interested in the HP posted above, looked through the customization options, and got it to $775. I'm still a ways off from buying any of these either way. >.>
But all the input has put me closer to deciding on something]. Better than I was 12 hours ago!

I recommend you don't get an HP laptop. Toshiba's are better from my experience. HPs heat up more.

Newegg.com and Tigerdirect.com have some good laptops.

to counter this statement, the issues I've heard regarding HP heating issues stem from just poor ventilation issues. Thats easily fixed if you get the 9 cell batteries that elevate the laptop allowing free air flow beneath it.

Let's remove playing WoW from the equation. Say the laptop is just for schoolwork and browsing, to supplement my iPad and do what it cannot do, or do certain things better. (organizing of photos, reports, etc). How do these look?

    or

Also, throw in an external HD for good measure.

You can choose between these I guess. . .

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834215397

    OR

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...source=message

The only difference is the RAM clock speed. 1066 on the Acer, 1333 on the Lenovo. Of course the 1333 is faster, and if you are ok with spending $50 more, I'd say go with the Lenovo. Usually they have a higher build quality and come with less bloatware (this can be avoided by doing a fresh install of windows 7).
