snakes and iguanas

So im having bit of an dilemma here with wanting to get a snake, strangler, but im really worried how my iguana would react to this (hes a free roamer) and is terrified even normal guests, how could i avoid him being a fraid and yet getting a python or boa?

Never take the snake out of its enclosure when the iguana is in the room?
