    Beta Mage Problems

    Hello fellow mages

I'm really disappointed with the way beta is been for our class, tested all the fights in beta and i can tell i was very disappointed with my personal dps then i realize that the other mage in the raid (25m) was crappy damage also, doing some research over i found this log:

    http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/s...um/damageDone/
Single target Fight (Feng the Accursed)

they have frost and fire mages, fire was always my spec to love and raid with, they are real bad in dps meter, and i know they both are very good players (top 6 guild us),

I'm not claiming for buffs or nothing like that but....why nerf fire in the last patch when we already the underdog? its real strange.
Any ideas what blizz intends for the class?

    Plz constructive post's only.

Early in the xpac, fire is never as great as in the end cause we need all the stats (crit, haste, mastery). Also we're much better on multi target fights.

I remember awhile back blizzard saying they were gonna get Frost spec as viable for PVE as the other 2...and yet all I see coming out of every beta patch build is another nerf to a Frost ability and It has me wondering if this spec will ever be viable in PvE. Now I have yet to level any class in the Beta/PTR, because I want to experience the leveling adventure when it goes live, but to constantly just see nerfs to your favorite class/spec is very unnerving.

Exept you seem to forget everything thats happened in the past 4 years and havent looked at the changes for MoP.. Fire in WotLK had a disadvantage when compared to arcane, cause arcane got 3% free hit from talents(and hit back then was hard to get and secondary stats mattered), Fire in Cata had a huge dependacy on crit cause of bad design, both issues are gone in MoP.

And futhermore we used to be better on multi-target cause of pyromaniac and the fact that we could cleave as many targets we wanted, given we can still cleave and more easily, its only 2 additional targets and there is no benefit for singletarget dps from it like there was in Cata, Now sure there still is a benefit but you cant really go off saying things like fire needs this or that, cause atm you cant base anything on previous expansions...

To OP, What nerf? they took away our cleaving as aoe ability, which allready felt a bit gimmicky and was really hard to balance. And if you look at the boss fights from any previous expansion, when have you had more than 3 boss targets next to each other? I dont actually recall any atm, at least after wotlk launched

The fire spec was just buffed by near 9%.
The last simulation is showing it not so far away of Frost in single target no movement:http://lhiveras-library.com/sites/lh...e_PreRaid.html
    (arcane sim is still bugged).

One of the mages is still top 10, in a 25 man not everyone can be at the top. I don't think any classes are bad off, I just think its players and circumstances. Maybe the other 2 mages don't normally play mage? I don't know, but if one is top 10 and the others aren't its usually because player issues, lower gear, circumstances of the fight or they just got out played. /shrug

True. Lots of mages even played Frost in early Cata raids since Fire was about unplayable in half epic equip in certain encounters and Arcane ran out of mana far too quickly. All you needed for Frost to work back then was hit cap and as close to 34% crit as you could get. So don't worry, even if it goes live as it is, as soon as the gear is there Fire will go boom again. That's partially intended since I believe you should change your main spec every now and then.

So they took out RNG factors that drove many mages mad and reduced potential damage a bit in turn. Sounds like a deal, and not a bad one. In DS, with all the nerfed encounters and constant target switching in many of them Fire hasn't been much of a fun spec lately.

Something just came to mind. If we talk about numbers and standings, we should probably clearify if we're talking about level 85 values in full raid gear or level 90 values in premade gear.
