    50 million what..? lol

    http://www.examiner.com/article/anal...illion-players

Free to play may be good for the game to get a few hundred thousand people in the game maybe even a million or 2 un paid freemium accounts but 50 million yowza. What are your guys thoughts on this Analyst lol? I stopped playing a while ago but watch the tor forums and here if any big news comes out because Id still like it to succeed and come back maybe one day and xpac or good content hits.

I can also pull numbers out of my ass, which is essentially all this "ANALyst" did.

I'll believe it when I see it. I think it's pretty silly though, on the whole.
^ The above should be taken with two grains of salt and a fistful of "chill the F* out".

Lol, it's Michael Pachter. I'm hoping the info that he sells to investors through Wedbush is a lot better than what he says publicly, because he's got a history of making either painfully obvious statements or being horribly, horribly wrong.

If he's talking about how the total MMO market has upwards of 50 million players that can be tapped into, sure. But there's no single game that can tap that many total players (concurrently at least).

redit: I'm convinced Michael Pachter is just trolling us now.

Huh. Well, it's possible, I suppose. I would say it's not likely, but I'm not a market analyst so I'll just shut up when one is talking.
It would be nice to have some more customers for my crafted armors. Although, more customers also means more competition...

This is simply further proof that this guy has no clue and happened to luck out during the Wii-era of console popularity in becoming the "Voice of the Industry".

I think even that is a bit of a stretch in this economy.

And also, down right incorrect given that swtor hasn't launched in much of the eastern market.

The western market is also leery of F2P because they haven't been exposed to them nearly as much as the eastern market.

There's many mitigating factors that, I think, will keep swtor around 800k subscribers with maybe 400k-800k active F2P accounts (fluctuations due to events and competition)
    (Warframe) - Dragon & Typhoon-
(Neverwinter) - Trickster Rogue & Guardian Fighter -

    SWTOR predicted players: 50,000,000
    World population: 7,000,000,000
    Ratio: 1:140
    Internet users @ end 2011: 2,267,233,742
    Ratio: 1:45

    It seems way too much.

The size of the total MMO market (F2P included) is massive. So F2P game can potentially tap 50 million, it's just super hard.

The Western market is less leery of F2P than you might think, that's one of the reasons so many games have successfully transitioned to one form of F2P or another and seen big boosts in revenue.

I keep thinking that its either another desperate attempt by him to get attention... Or he is desperately trying to get hired by one of these publishers. He reminds me of those "bought" critics who say wonderful things about horrible movies.

Either post constructively or not at all. A comment like that will only lead to bad, bad places.

I think the amount is ment to describe the possible amount of clients.
Not the number they actually think it'll attract.

Well Facebook has eighty plus million fake accounts so of course TOR could have fifty million players. So could WoW, AoC, and my mother. So possible? Yes. Likely? Snowball's chance in hell comes to mind...

Before Launch Pachter thought that 1.5 million people would go for the 6month sub.
