I was a 100% raid attendance nerd from Karazhan all the way to Sunwell a few months before 3.0. I got into raiding because it was the way to fully experience the game. I really enjoyed the journey from Karazhan to Black Temple (I admit I started to get bored half way through Sunwell, mainly because Blizzard made Illidan out to be the final boss for so long)
I really enjoyed going from t4/t5/t6 and it was seem-less experience where we transition from tier to tier wasn't instantaneous, but it was slowly overtime. We went back many times to attune people and gear new people to be able to come to BT/Hyjal and then eventually Sunwell. Unlike today where I see people go from T12, to T13 almost what it seem is overnight and the previous tier is completely forgotten about.... over night.
But thats besides the point. From those attempts they're doing it SERIOUSLY reminds me of my days of raiding in TBC on progression nights, even the ventrilo in the background sounds fucking identical, same reactions, same comments, same type of "feeling".
So raiding is exactly the same, (boring thing you end up doing for a long time out of pure habit) and gameplay still is the same....but there is no actual journey from tier to tier anymore. I got my friend into WoW last Christmas holidays and he is already in full heroic DS gear (granted he plays a tank, and probably got fed gear), and he never even did any previous content in WoW.
Thats like someone starting WoW at Sunwells release....then 3 months later being fully sunwell geared while not having ever even stepped into Karazhan/Gruuls Lair/Mags Lair/SSC/TK/Hyjal/Black Temple.....that is purely insane.
