    Since you began training in MMA, has your reactions to things changed?

    Before I began training in MMA when something startled me I would just clutch my chest and yelp. Now when something startles me I immediately go into a boxing stance, and recently punched my friend in the face for jumping out and trying to scare me when I came around the corner. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if it's normal?

    Didn't really think about it since I started martial arts when I was 8 and trained in a few since but I do raise my fists into a stance if someone jumps out at me but never threw a punch doing so. Maybe some restraint on your part is needed but there's nothing unnatural about taking a defensive stance at possible danger.

    I guess the whole human nature of fight or flight is to be accounted for.
