Why is vial of the sands so cheap??

I've wondered about this. Mostly; why are some items duped all of the time, when others, which would sell just as well, are not?

The vial of the sands itself doesn't seem to be what people are copying, its the raw material. I see people in trade trying to sell stacks of the raw materials for 2-3k. Although this could be a limit on how many people have been able to find the recipe.
The deathchargers sell well. But all of the items from shadowmourne are BoE. Why don't we see the tabard duped just as much as the mount?
I've heard that higher-end players were duping epic red gems when they were first available. I don't know if this is true or if it was just rumors.

I've looked up the basic method to duping. But I cannot seem to figure out why we don't see all kinds of cheap items. On a high-pop server (like Illidan) you would think you could find all different mats/enchants/mounts/etc. for dirt cheap, albeit illegitimately copied.


As a note to people asking about purchasing duped items. If you buy it from the AH, the worst that could happen would be the mount would be taken away from you without refund. Although because it is a 'spell' and not an item, Blizzard might have to do this on a case-by-case basis, which makes it unlikely. It is also something you could have been ignorant to. I purchased a Vial for 10k before I knew people were duping items, because I thought someone typed the price incorrectly.
If you trade some dude from trade chat 5k for 6 deathchargers, that might get you in trouble.

I havent tried to make one yet or looked at the mats, i got mine for 15k and thought i was getting it for cost of mats maybe a little more or less from someone who couldn't sell theirs and needed the gold back. I didnt realize it was a dupe, i never checked the prices on these before.

got mine for 10k, duped or not blizzard doesnt really seem to care about removing them once you have used it

b0sanac is 100% right. Only the person with Shadowmourne, on the quest to kill the lich king can loot the chest and only ONCE. multiple can be looted if more than one person is on the quest.

am on a low-dead pop server on the insanely out numbered horde. VOS are no less than 38k and Crimson Deathcharger 96k.

That really sucks, my server is low-mid pop or around there and as of right now there are 5 deathchargers going for 30k each, I've yet to see a cheap VoS on the auction house, I do however see alot of level 1 toons spamming trade "selling" it for anywhere from 10-20k depending on who's willing to buy.

After talking to the pet trainer, fly directly south to Stranglethorn Vale.
Run along the cost of STV until you're attacked by a mob.
Suddenly you will have a huge stack of Deathchargers.

Perhaps, but when said person has multiple up on the auction house or is selling multiple on trade chat, is it not a tad suspicious?

thats because the item vanishes when learning/crafting into smth else. so chances are really slim that blizz will remove a learned mount. but you dont learn the tabard. chances are rather high that it will vanish. tabard is also unique making things more complicated.

I think this has gone on so long that you have lost track of what we were talking about.

Duping exploit that Blizzard isn't commenting on nor showing any interest in fixing it.

I read a rumor on a forum, cannot officially verify, in where they clam they learned that "Blizzard" plans to remove all duped mount items even if the were learned. Unfortunately though gold will not be returned. We will have to see when the patch comes out as that is when they "plan" to do this.

This duping is great for us who don't really sell those mounts

This month alone I bought the following on Kazzak-EU

Spectral tiger (epic) = 200k
Spectral tiger (blue) = 100k
Crimson deathcharger = 15k
Vial of sands = 17k
White rhino = 100k

I am kinda broke now, but those mounts were worth it ;p
Doesn't even matter now with all the profit we are gonna make with the MoP release! (Gems , herbs..etc)

On stormrage there has been about 7 or so vial of sands going for 19k.

Same goes for Stormscale, Brought one a few weeks back for 15k in trade.

If they did this, there would be so MUCH rage, especially if gold was not returned. If gold was returned i could understand but people who bought from AH, and random players didn't know it was duped could be ignorant. Im sure Blizzard will fix the dupe and punish those responsible but anger a large amount of players and get flooded with tickets which cost them money to keep staff working on. I mean the ticket surge would be nuts and the ratings for their responce would be low and make the staff upset. I just don't see them taking it without refund.
