Looking for practical advice...Warrior & Guardian Playstyle

So, hi guys!

I got around to playing the stress test (my first outing in to GW2 unfortunately), and while it was laggy because of the issues they were having I mostly spent a lot of time creating new characters.

I was able to deduce after much deliberation that I would like to wear some plate in this game (been a rogue for years), and based on the classes I tried I felt the most attracted to the Warrior and the Guardian.

I've read and watched a lot of videos of game play from both classes, but I honestly...just don't understand what I'm seeing as I've not much experience with the game in general.

Can anyone give me some practical insight (like, you have a good amount of experience playing or fighting both classes) on the major differences between the two classes' mechanically? I know that the Guardian has support abilities, I'm aware of that major difference, but as I've read many build their Guardians for offense and are comparable to Warriors in damage...so what are the primary differences between playing these two classes? I'm looking to have this all ironed out before release! Thanks very much for your input!
