I came across my first desert temple yesterday, and was over-awed at the awesomeness. Part of it had been buried under sand.
I jumped on the MCwiki to get more info, and I read about the secret chamber - only after digging down the side wall did I realise the trap.
As a MC player you should never dig straight down unless you know what is under you :P
