    From the beta forums;
    Our general philosophy is that you should want hit and expertise to make your resource-generating attacks hit (paladin example: Crusader Strike) but not to have your active mitigation abilities work (paladin example: Shield of the Righteous). Probably the right call is to have the damage portion of SotR miss but always get the defensive benefit in the way Shield Block always works. This one-size-fits-all strategy might not work for every ability, because Death Strike is just such a different model than Shield of the Righteous, but that's out general philosophy.
    If the change goes through, Sotr will be even better than Death Strike because it will never fail to apply the damage reduction.

    If Death Strike has been made like this, it's mainly because you "bank" damage. You actually have to take damage before making it competitive while other A.M. can be used preemptively.

    Failing a DS is way more punishing than failing other types of active mitigation.

    @Asheriah. yeah just reading that from beta class change thread aswell.. that is atleast good'ish news. However that leads to hit/expertise gearing is only for HP regen, which probably reduces their stat weight by a bit. will be interesting to see what theck can come up with about it.
