It looks like there's a token in MoP that you can use to buy JC patterns, combined with a random chance from using Spirits of Harmony. Is this the case, or are all patterns being made RNG drops, as is rumored?

you'll have a spell. you need three rare gems from one color for that spell. with that spell those gems are gone, and you discover a random design for that color. when you already know all recipies for that color, you discover a random recipe of a random color.

you can do this once per day.
additional spirits of harmory (three) bypass and don't trigger this one-day-cooldown (not sure if this is a second spell or if it is the same)

there are no tokens anymore (not sure about this, but it wouldn't make sense with all that above if there still would be).

so without spirits of harmony, you need 68 days to discover all recipies.
if you want to have all recipies with the least amount of money, just buy the three cheapest rare gems of one color and do a discovery.
if you want the ones who sell for good money (brilliant, delicate, bold), buy red rares. but they will be more expensive at the beginning.

if you want to do it in one day, you'll need 67x3 = 201 spirits of harmony. plus the rare gems, obviously. but I very much doubt that you will be able to farm that much on the first day . but I'm just doing the math here.

No more JC daily, that makes me extremely happy. I'm not crazy about the rng determining the recipe we get but in 2 months, we can have all the rare recipes, so that isn't too bad I guess. I also like that we are given sparkling shards with each prospect which we use 10 to make our Serpent's Eye. I was getting 1-3 shards per prospect which I hope doesn't change, unless it gets a little higher.

Seriously debating using the gold I have saved up now to power level JC in the first week to be ready for raid opening and cover enchanting with the mats I'll get from disenchanting everything. If I can max enchanting and get JC high enough to do the patterns, I can see myself easily making it all back come raid tier.

Plus with transmute having a cool down, acquiring the rare/epic gems or whatever will be much harder.
