Building a computer for my brother, a couple questions.
The build is pretty much complete aside from a few things. I'm picking out a set of good peripherals in addition to the computer build as he's using some shit "gaming" headset and basic cheap as shit mouse and keyboard. His monitor is an old BenQ 21.5" G2220HD TN panel so I'm replacing it with a korean 2560x1440p 27" QH-270 LG IPS panel.
Now, in Norway the Gigabyte OC Radeon 7970 I'm looking at is $550 and a comparable GTX 680 from ASUS, EVGA, MSI or Gigabyte is $660-700. They rank fairly similarly in a lot of benchmarks with the GTX 680 beating out the 7970 slightly overall. Budget isn't the biggest concern but there's no need to waste money vicariously. Which card would you suggest?
Also, can you give any recommendations for a good pair of headphones? For his budget I was looking at something like Ultrasone Pro 550, Audio Technica M50 or Beyerdynamic DT 770.
700$ is a shitload of money for a GTX680
I would suggest going for a 7970 or a GTX670 if you want to save some money, but since budget isn't the biggest issue go for the 7970 GHZ edition if you can find it
the GHZ edition is slightly better than the 680
If you decide to buy the GTX680 go for the Twin Frozr version
for headphones, I ordered SIBERIA V2 headsets and they're very decent
