Guild mount is few and far between?

This seems too specific to be in general, but I can't find anywhere else to put it.

I'm just wondering something, and It's not boasting. Why are the guild mounts so rare? I've been wondering this for most of Cata.
I got it fairly early on from just...playing the game while using the blue and then epic guild tabard when I unlocked it. I found it fairly easy to get to exalted from just doing arena. So why is it so rarely seen? (It's not a rare mount, but I've seen few around.)

I got the guild mount near the start of cata then took a break. I then came back and joined a new guild. Due to the fact that I already had most of the guild rewards, I didn't bother to actively rep grind for anything in the guild. I have never once used a guild tabard this time and yet I'm half way through honoured just by doing dalies for a few weeks and just generally playing the game.

It doesn't cost a lot and level 25 guilds are common, so what's the deal?

Just isnt 'cool' or important. people run with the mounts they feel are cool or unique. Example my land mount is the archo bug mount and my air mount is sandstone. I like those.

Probably because they dont like the way it looks. A lot of people are in casual guilds for the perks so they really dont have guild "spirit" to show the flag all over the place.

Believe it or not but most players aren't capable of making a lot of money, that's probably what stops them

This. The scorpion would be so much better without a guild banner, it was also better when trolls used to carry the banner horizantal rather than vertical so it looked like a jousting weapon.

My guild is still level 19, seeing as we stopped playing wow not long after Cataclysm. Now once in a while we log on to do an LFR or an arena get bored again and log off. Can't be bothered switching to another guild, going out to do boring mundane tasks to get the rep for... well, anything anymore. I don't really like the guild mounts either, but if I had to choose one it would be the lion... and I have the Zulian Tiger.

Probably because it's so easy to get, many people figured a lot would be riding it, so they don't do avoid looking like everyone else.

And yet, I see it less than reins of the raven lord. Hell, on my server I see it less then TLPD and A'lar.

But I know what you mean.
