I am sure that is just a polar ice cap and there is nothing there. I doubt we will ever have another expansion in some north frozen continent as we already had that. Just there for aesthetics.

It could just be ice, not an actual land mass.. not really much would be there.

Looking at the way the "triangles" have warped. I'd say it was just a texture issue.

Looks like it's meant to be a turtle, to me anyways.

"Hero", is what they've all been saying. This world, it isn't worth the saving."

The bottom curve is the turtle's head (harhar), the four points on the sides are the fins. It's been said before that it was meant to be Shen-zin-su, the turtle you ride on in the Pandarian starting zone, since this same giant map thing was in Halls of Lightning and Ulduar, all speculation of course since there are two of them on either side, could just be the ice caps..but what fun is that? :P

Meh. That globe is outdated. Even real world maps were incomplete until the advent of satellite surveys. Blizz will just add in more "lost" or "undiscovered" territory as they need fro future expansions/patches. Don't hold that image up as some kind of official last word, it can, has, and will change.
