Yes, I will buy gear. No, I won't waste it on an asura :P

Kids these days...
In my time we had to kill a god, create a new one and bring the mats on the bags for a full primeval set!
OT: Dunno, still too soon for me to think about it.
holy crap that's Premieval?! it looks BADASS on an Asura!!
to answer your question yes i already have 4000 gems waiting for me and will be purchasing even more and get cosmetic stuff along with other quality of life things
hmm, you should've added Krytan armorset as I wanted to see that on an Asura
Well, that's what I get for skipping the last few stress tests. Was that the only piece added, or were there more?
And I probably will, eventually. If I ever get a bunch of extra cash laying around or something, I may buy a single set of armor to transmute over my current stuff.
In case you're wondering how asura look in the other armors:
And Norn:

I'm really big on aesthetics so if something goes on to that store that I think looks badass I will probably buy it.
This is EXACTLY why I felt it was insulting to add the Primeval set to the cash shop as a GW1 player. Really cheapens the personal pride of the set and doubly so that legacy armors are not available through HOM.
Ideally, I felt like all the elite armors from GW1 should only be available to original GW1 players that earned them. Instead we get the river-dance shoes from pre-Searing... erm.
Overall, I am really unhappy with how Anet are handling their cash shop in GW2. And I say that as a whale more than willing to swallow up frivolous virtual trinkets. But implementation and effect is the opposite of awesome for me.
How do you make the aviator shades non-wearable in combat from GW1? My mind breaks.

I've got a question: If you buy the gear through the gemstore, do you only get 1 copy of it or do you get a set for each of your characters? Is it a 1 character use only thing?
I'll try to stay clear of the gem-store for the first few weeks until I figure out what I want and what's worth buying.
I think by purchasing cool stuff early on in the game you're ruining your play-experience because a lot of stuff will feel unrewarding.
It's like jumping into Diablo already wearing the best gear.
I won't buy anything at all for the first couple of months.
Another thing the Cosmetic Items cost 500gems and the town cloths 700, thats kinda weird no?
