Well, It isn't like Jesus actually looked like that anyway. I'm willing to bet almost every depiction of him is very far off.
I guess it is unfortunate that the painting got ruined though.

While it's unfortunate that the painting had to die, it has an absolutely hilarious result and, as such, is an acceptable sacrifice.

It is very clear that the old lady hasn't got very good eyesight. She saw a painting that needed restoration and attempted to fix what she could see. And the result is what she thought the original looked like....to her.
