This is the first time I've ever played a Warrior class. I've always been against tank n spank, heavy armor, melee classes. In GW1 I played an Assassin and a Hunter. In WoW I played a Holy Paladin. In other games I'm usually a caster or a stealthy class. Never a heavy armor melee character.
But this is different. It has the most versatility of any class, and it can stand up to any enemy. Depending on weapon type it can throw out conditions, chase down enemies, crowd control, or just rain fire upon enemies. I love it, and I'm VERY surprised at how much I enjoy it. The problem... is there are SO MANY weapon types! I can't choose!
Right now my favorite main-hand has to be the axe. For some reason it does more damage per swing than my greatsword, and it attacks twice as fast. Cyclone Axe for Vulnerability and Throw Axe for ranged are awesome as well. Don't even get me started on Eviscerate! Sometimes I use the sword just for bleeds and the charge attack, but it just doesn't seem as effective.
For off-hand, I LOVE the shield and warhorn, depending on what situation I'm in. For super-offensive needs I throw in another axe for Double Chop and Whirling Axes. In super-heavy AoE sitations I go Sword/Axe w/ Greatsword or Bow as a secondary for Flurry + Whirling Defense + either Bow attacks or Hundred Blades. In any case... it is awesome having these many options.
As a secondary weapon I'm always switching between Rifle, Bow, and Greatsword. All of them are excellent for so many situations, and compliment my other weapon choice immensely. For AoE melee weapons, I'll use a Rifle for single target ranged DPS. Otherwise I'll use the BoW or Greatsword for some AoE.
But has anybody found a setup that REALLY stands out above the rest? For me (for the moment) it is probably Axe/Shield + Longbow, but I find myself switching it up for every other event. What do you think?
