Power Auras and Weak Auras usually build in resources like CPs or HoPo into the addon - they may not have gotten around to it yet, but it will probably happen. Might either try some of the built in resource trackers (it might be using the same API as one of the existing resources) or make a comment on the addon threads so the designers can address it.
Pitbull will probably end up with a module for it too.
I use ElvUI (can be downloaded here) which is a complete UI replacement that looks great and has a bunch of other features - it's unit frames are tracking shadow orbs properly and have found it more than enough so far.
I've always used Power Auras personally, it's intimidating at first - but making your own personal auras and sound effects is awesome I'm going to be working on some even more complex graphics (I want them to kind of evolve depending on the number of orbs - evolve like pokemon not gradually shift over hundreds of millions of years), as well as sounds that mix well together for different events (ie. DI proc, FDCL proc, 1/2/3 orbs, etc).
Not to push my bad youtube videos or anything, but if you want to see what you can do with power auras - look at what's going on above my head during this game for example:
So there is:
- Tricks of the Trade symbol + sound effect
- 3 Shadow Orbs = Hot Pink Fiery symbol + Thunder sound
- Execute Range = Hot Pink flaming skull + Heartbeat sound
I also have ones for Power Infusion and Volcanic Potion and such. A goal for MoP is to use more power auras and further reduce my UI. I'm a UI minimalist, but also an information addict - which is kind of at odds with one another, I think Power Auras are a fantastic way of getting all the information you need without cluttering your screen with too much going on! ^^
The new UI for Power Auras has converted me over to Weak Auras. I am a die hard /powa fan, but alas, the only thing that was really holding me back from converting to Weak Auras was the fact that I knew the /powa ui very well. Now that's gone, and so am I.
Honestly, though, all I really care about (for PVE anyways) is whether I have 3 orbs or not. So I just track when I have 3 orbs and leave it at that.
