I guess the difference for me is that everything I'd need to play GW2 well feels acquirable on my own. I can build up crafting skills to make top notch equipment, or grind up karma or coin to buy items in game. In Diablo 3, getting better equipment felt out of reach, and that I had to rely on purchasing things from other players to progress.
and just because Eudemus has reasonable prices and ANet is greedy as hell, doesnt make that pay2win method any kind of better ... its just paymore2win!
I hope you haven't forgotten my role in this little story. I'm the leading man. You know what they say about the leading man? He never dies.
If you give in to your impulses in this world, the price is that it changes your personality in the real world. The player and character are one and the same.
let it be flyff, mappelstory, flyff, archlord, 9dragons, 2moons, all games on this planet can be "done" without paying a single dollar ... so there cant be a single game which is pay2win!
Besides the point where you achieve nothing with that, you didn't play anything of the game and you will probably have to create a new character.
Who the hell would do that? I mean, even if you were rich Im pretty sure you wouldn't do that. Because in the end this isn't a pay to win game, no matter how much you put it out there. Buying everything you said just skipped the whole game, you won't be more powerful than the poor guy on your right.
If people want a Pay to Win game they won't be playing Gw2. There are far better games to do so (in a Pay 2 win game)
And i think its better if we stick to successfull games instead of citing SW:G as a point of comparison.
Again, this is the first MMO (or close to, whatever you want to call it) where the best items can be bougt legally with real money that i PLAY (maybe there have been others, but i havent played them).
Again, it doesnt impact much in this particular game because of its structure (stats dont matter that much in late gam because there isnt a gear rce like in other MMOs, there are no subscriptions, etc) but the OP does have a point.
Things have gotten a bit too heated in here (partially due to the inflammatory title) so I'm going to close this down before things go any further South.
