How would the world react if the US disappeared?

First off... it would never, ever, happen. The states are far closer to disappearing as entities within a unitary US than they are suddenly becoming separate sovereign entities. That ship sailed a long, long time ago.

Second, assuming for the sake of argument that what you're outlining did come to pass, one of two scenarios would most likely happen:

1. Because economic and policy interests ALREADY cross state borders (for example the area directly involved in the New York City metro area, and affected by policy decisions, sprawls across three states), you would see either a rapid coagulation of states into new federal groupings (perhaps as few as five, perhaps as many as 15), or a complete dissolution of the old states and reformation into new "states" bearing little resemblance to the existing borders, for the same reason. State boundaries were drawn over a century ago, in a different era of transport and communication. They make little sense now, with current patterns of economy and society.

2. If you recall the "United States of Canada/Jesusland" cartoon of a few years ago - you might see something akin to that. Certain portions of the existing US - Northwest Coast/California/Northeast/Great Lakes - might join with Canada in a new expanded federation, certain portions along the southern border might decide to throw their lot in with Mexico, leaving the mountain states, great plains, and southeast in a federation of their own.

One thing more likely in either scenario would be the increase in power of corporations over the new governments. A patchwork of state laws with no overarching federal law would allow corporations even more power to set states against each other for jobs, and would likely see an ongoing decline in the standard of living in states dependent upon them for their economy.

All in all, it would not be the small-government-libertarian's fantasy world that some people think it might be, even without the specter of war (which I agree is unlikely). It would likely be a small net plus for some, and a large net minus for many.

Like it or not but the world economy will collapse. Unemployment will increase on a scale that we never seen before. The Great Depression here in the States will seem nothing in comparison to what will come if the US would just disappeared.

Believe me, it is not just "terrorist" countries (does that even exist? gross generalization) that would be relieved.
Terrorist attacks in europe were a direct consequence of US warmongering and our retarded leaders following suit, we werent a target or enemy before that, now we are from association.

I dont think that anyone aside from "terrorists" hate the US as a whole, just its external policies, and "hate" is too strong of a word, in most cases "resent" would be more fitting.

If the US forsook its national debt, there would revolution and anarchy in the streets of the US itself with how much of the debt is owned by US citizens and how many revolutionary groups already exist. Tough question, i believe the world will support the separation. The rest of the world knows that you will never repay that what they have landed you. What they will do is have each independent "country" in the new USA do something in return for the debt they own. Like China building factories over there, that will be fun to see. Pretty much though US is going down, the more dept you have the more dependent you are on foreign countries, you are not so free as you think, in fact your whole army is being funded by China and other countries, if they ever decide to pull the plug, you will have no army in days, not a single shot will be fired. Its funny but you know which other countries have huge debt because they spend money they don't have- Communistic.

3. Middle east completely destabalizes
4. Mexico goes after Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas
5. Washington, Oregon, Maine, and New York get annexed by Canada for protection against China
