At low enough stream quality yes. "Just able to stream" is not a "just" because it's the most demanding thing for the raw CPU power you can do while playing any game.

If you want to reach 720p in raids, switching to i5-3570K and a suitable motherboard would be adviced. For 25man raiding in any case it would be far better than the Phenom x4 965. Also switch RAM to low profile sticks instead, will make building and upgrading your computer easier.

Thanks for the reply. the i5-3570K would be a little over budget for me right now. around $150 would be the max I'd be able to spend on a CPU and still keep the rest and make budget.

Thank you. Now you really got me thinking.

Would the i5-3570K work with that board? If so I'm thinking I could probably be able to pull that off.

Yes, but it can't be overclocked on that board. i5-3470 is best non-overclockable gaming CPU from Intel atm.

IF you live near a microcenter you can get a i7-3820 for 229.00 bucks, its a superior streaming CPU than the other i5/i7. The drawback is that the motherboards are more expensive for these chips.

If you get a 3570k make sure you take advantage of what makes the chip good, overclocking (requires a p67/z68/z77 motherboard). If you dont care about overclocking, get a 2400/2500 like glo said with a h61/h67 motherboard.

hmmm... The i5-3470 and i5-2500 are the same price. Assuming I'd be better off getting the 3rd gen and just spending a little more on a better board?

Yup. That's perfectly fine. The reason I linked a 2500 is because Ivy Bridge boards are about $20 more and I wanted to keep you in your budget.

An important thing that is commonly overlooked is your bandwidth. I'd make sure you have at least 2Mbps upload or you're stream will choke or be choppy.

Thanks for all the help Glo and everyone else.

Just one last thing, that 450w PSU still going to fine with the different CPU and board? I hope so

Yes, and the modern Intel processors actually eats less electricity than the older PhenomII's.
