Well, them taking the NPC names for future use in videos etc. makes sense to me and I have no issues.

But some of the screenshots of their public banter on Twitter and the fact that they were reserving up to 7 names for GM's per server while taking popular names? Yeahno, that's bloody awful and placing yourself ahead of your players. That's extremely unprofessional and it's a great example of why you tell your idiot team members not to talk about work on social media.

Sheesh, I'm assuming most of their CM/GM team are around 20 years old, raised on social media and don't have experience at other studios? Because this kind of shit wouldn't fly anywhere else where you had an industry vet, they'd slap the shit out of those folks for being so idiotic.

The jerk at the center of this was a Wildstar EU CM. I have absolutely zero clue wtf has been going on since Omeed and his traveling circus has started making NCSoft look like derptards. And the other person doing the twitter banter, gloating about the names in front of all this criticism, mentioned they would reserve Naruto back in August. So they've known they would do this for months, while talking out of the other side of their mouth to sell this stuff.

How can you work in this industry and have this little sense? Is it like a hiring requirement now?

So calling it right now after seeing how few NA servers there are. There will be 1-2+ hour long queues for at least the first week unless they make more servers. Oh also you can buy qeue priority seperate from the founder packs and premium sub so yeah I'm expecting they'll be artificially inflating or creating queues to encourage people to pay up.

Sorry but its a localization process not a translation process. Its not some unforgivable sin to redo some quests honestly changing stuff for the western release isn't even an issue it should have been expected.

There's a newer crop of much younger folks coming in who didn't learn under the tutelage of industry vets, and they're hiring their friends. They pop up here and there and generally cause headaches for folks who have been around for a while but don't have the authority (because they're often times in separate departments) to tell them to stop being morons.

I mean, when I was reading some of the back and forth I can't say I was terribly given their opinions on "problematic" content/outfits/stances, especially after the initial promises not to censor anything were broken. But that still doesn't change the fact that every time I see idiots acting like this publicly I get slightly surprised and largely disappointed.

I'd have a bloody nightmare if devs I've worked with over the years had employees that did this shit.

Honestly I just don't get the big deal that their plans changed, I mean they still released the game in the West, things tend to change in development for one reason or another. If there's one thing that a decade of playing MMOs has taught me is promises mean jack. And I mean if people are that upset on the changes I'm sure there are still English patches for the other regions people have been playing on for years. I'd be more concerned with the way their GMS are acting with the name reservation and the fact that they're sticking to Game Guard after all the illwill that anti cheat tool has garnered over in the West.

I didn't know that this all kind of hit right right before launch so I guess that makes a little more sense that people would that upset then.

See, the combat systems got me excited to try this game, but the more I hear about the community side of things the more turned off I am in wanting to put any actual money into it. (I guess a benefit of arriving to the party as late as I did)

I'm still going to play it when it comes out, see if it's my thing, but I don't think I'll sink any money into it as Korean MMOs typically don't hold me for much longer than a month.

I worry about games like this and BDO for not having trinity. For one, some players just like healer and tank roles. Secondly, PVE is harder to implement for this model. I know it was very unhappy with GW2, which avoided the trinity--I'm not sure hot the expansion is working out, but I think they added some pseudo roles.

It looks really cool, and I am very burned out with current MMOs, but I would really not want to play a game where I can't heal. This said, I really hope it does well, because the more successful MMOs, the better for everyone that enjoys the genre.

That's good to hear I was worried since I had heard it wasn't kind to alt tabbing/multi tasking with things like firefox so I figured games were off limits, glad that's not the case though.

I know when I was looking it up I saw the wikipedia article describe it as that and a lot of the forums on various places like gamefaqs and their forums seemed to be concerned over it being a rootkit, I had been trying to look into further since it seemed like it was a lot of overblown worrying and the more I've talked to people about it I've noticed its not as bad as it seemed so far.

Also I've been reading up on game guard and I have to say I'm starting to worry if playing the game is going to be more of a hassle then its worth. I've seen people saying it will mess up and close the B&S client if you have Steam, MSI Afterburner, Skype, Firefox, Logitech Gaming Software(for keyboard and mouse settings) running along with seeming to be hated by antivirus and anti malware software due to working like a rootkit and not liking it when you try and multitask while playing the game.

I played the last beta and I didn't have any issues or crashes. I've also played other games using GameGuard for going on 10+ years now and never had an issue. And I run Skype, Firefox, Steam, and Razer Synapse. YMMV but I dunno. I don't actively run anti-virus or malware suites as they're more bloat than anything. Adblock, Ghostery, NoScript, etc. covers you quite adequately unless maybe you're surfing shady porn sites or something.

I'll be retiring my 2500k for an AMD Zen later this year, probably sooner if they release an AM4 APU/CPU and AM4 motherboards this spring (just slap in a proper Zen later this year then build a mini itx with the APU later). I can still sell my CPU/MB/cooler combined for a decent price ($250+). Also a Polaris GPU as well. This will be the first time I had an all AMD build in 8 years.

I used to seemingly rotate between Intel and AMD builds, but stuck with Intel since my 2008 build. Most games are still CPU-bottlenecked, and AMD has had atrocious single-threaded performance for a long time now. Maybe if their new architecture fixes that, they would be worth using, but anything thru AM3+ literally has 40% less single-threaded performance than Intel, and games run the vast majority of their processing through a single main thread. So if you want to do gaming, I would say ditch the AMD CPU. AMD GPUs are fine though.
