As a healer I like my people in range, I don't like being caught off guard.
Lets look at it this way.
Do you want a mage pulling the trash before a boss in a raid, over the tank? You want some control and order, rite?

We're not talking about playing poorly, we're talking about pulling new packs of trash deliberately or deliberately doing more threat than a tank can handle. If the tank is geared it's his/her fault. If not it's your fault for not throttling back.
If you want to be goofy and mess around in a dungeon go with a guildmate or 4, if you want to go into randoms respect your role and try to help out.
I've been tanking for a few years now and this is what I personally think about your post. They get upset because it makes them feel like bad tanks, when it isn't necessarily true, you simply out gear them. One think perhaps you could do is when you join a party, tell your tank or healer " Don't worry about it if i died. It'll probably be my fault" or something along those lines.
not true. yes he pulled aggro because he out gears the tank. but i can always tell if someone is a good player regardless of gear. seeing a tank face pull and not know how to use cds has nothing to do with gear. i have 10 85s and play every spec equally and whether im dpsing or healing or tanking, its quite easy to spot a good player even if said player is in blues. im pleasantly surprised sometimes when i heal a 5man and i see i have more health than the tank but because hes a good player, he holds threat and knows how to use cooldowns.
plus with the response and rant that tank gave in the OP's description, shows that hes a bad player
Gotta say. There's nothing quite as funny as being a mage and pulling threat off a tank within the first few seconds of a pull with your enormous burst damage and leaving them with no possible way to get that threat back longer than the few seconds during a taunt. Even if you undergear them. And by funny, I mean blink+iceblock+"my bad."
If you outgear the group it will change the pace of the entire group. There is no longer a need for a tank, hence the healer has to change how he plays, the tank has to change how he plays and the DDs as well. Mobs die not because the group kills them but because you do. Tank has to switch targets while monitoring your actions, you don't have to watch what tank does. It changes everything how groups normally work and that's not a good thing for everyone. If I were the tank in your group with no gear but some def pieces I still would feel the urge to ask you to "tank" or at least to go on your pace while I am doing literally nothing. I would just go afk or something else and that's where everyone has to agree with. Trying to do a job without a chance to do it properly isn't fun since you really feel worthless.
There's no a lot of people here.
Nope. Marrowgar was 2 tanked (never seen it 3 tanked, pointless as any damage there was healable), Saurfang was 3 tanked. It was 3 tanked because the stacks on 2 in a typical 25man raid would be too much for the healers, so they spread it around (when I was doing 41% of ALL of the healing in a ICC 25man, there was no mana to do so anyway). -_-
Saurfang was the gate boss. It was a DPS/gear check boss before getting to Festergut. Marrowgar was not the gate boss. In Cata when we went through it, we didn't even need a tank for it, but Saurfang still needed 2 who could taunt...this is true despite being w-a-y overgeared for it.

Okay, I think this is derailed enough, with two warnings.
The topic was people outgearing tanks/healers, or pulling ahead and how it's dealt with from all points of view. Not how many tanks were needed for Saurfang.
