WoW only has 4 million relevant subscribers.

Some misinformation I want to clear up.

WoW only has 4 million relevant subscribers at the moment.

It is not relevant to count the asian market because it doesn't represent the competition Blizzard is really up against. Blizzard doesn't even collect the subscriptions fees (which are extremely extremely low in asia) for WoW East, this goes to a company that is completely independant from Blizzard while this independant company NetEase only pays Blizzard a minor sum of money to be allowed to host and offer WoW on the distant asian market.

I think it's important to keep only talking about relevant subscribers when we're talking about competition. Another game selling 2 or 3 million copies for example isn't small fish when you realize that the Western WoW market really only has 4m subscribers. Once a western game would be able to compete with a close to similar number the WoW east market would come under extreme pressure and might even be forced to close...

So, keep this information in mind from now on... The "WoW has 9m subscribers"-claim is completely pointless information. Keep to relevant information and only count the EU/US subscribers.

Don't start up this tired, and incorrect, argument here.
