    Horrible internet speeds

My parents were talked into going with a different internet provider after I told them it would suck ass compared to what we have now. Just went from 15Mbps to 2Mbps. Feels bad man.

    /rant

What do you guys have for speeds?

I feel for ya. I'm getting 5.5Mbps, which is the best you can get around here without paying out the ass.

30mbps for $34 a month is a steal imo, what makes them bad?

Now I feel like Comcast is... gently... raping me... of my money. Good service here in Denver, CO, but $70 a month is a bit steep now after seeing your post.

I must have done something wrong canceling everything but internet...
    Moo.

cable goes completely out on their side quite often. last week they were down 3 times over the week each time lasting about 3 hours. the city allows charter to have a monopoly in my city so theres no competition so Charter can just do whatever they like and I have to just accept it.

Well hopefully all the gentle raping of my money is actually being used to continue the good service I receive.

Powerboost is pretty neat. Effectively gives me 20mbps down for a while. Oh Comcast, stop, no means, ok, no, yes, no. Teeheehee.

So how about ya'lls internet speed? >.>
    Moo.

Too Soon! I complained too soon!

Did some more tests. Turns out the router's wireless just sucks ass. Wired connection goes from 15 Mbps to 18 Mbps, wireless in the same room as either router will give about the same, but through 5 walls, router A is great still, router B is painfully slow.

Let me guess, ISP provided router sucks?
    Moo.

network and sharing center 100mbps is your local network file transfer speed. it has no bearing on your internet download speeds.

I just got BT Infinity (Fibre Optic), since I realised I could upgrade to it for no extra cost, aside from a £7 initial fee.

Keep getting pretty odd results at the moment, since Upload Speed should only be a fraction of Download Speed. The BT website thought I would get 55mbps DL and 16mbps UL and it said something about taking a few weeks before it works at 100%, so I'm guessing that's why I'm seeing lower than expected Download speeds.

Also worth noting that this is wireless.

Not bad with Verizon FIOS, considering we're only promised 15 down and 5 up.
