    Burst

Hello, this is my first post on MMO-Champion despite being a long-time lurker.

I've been looking to get back into another MMO for quite some time, played Tera and GW2. I live for PvP, I must be one of the few people(not sure?) that actually enjoyed the amount of burst in Vanilla. So my question is if they're attempting to bring back some type of burst damage into the game? Or will the fights continue to be excessively long?

Completely depends on how you play, As a Warrior myself, I can play in defensive stance, with arms spec but Sword + sheidl and gradually ware down enemies slowly and take very little damage myself. It's just how I like to play it seems to work.

But, If I play aggressively I can blow people up quite quick, so man just come back play how you want to play there is burst in every class now it's alot of fun.

The question is if this will last though.. It seems like the current numbers are simply inflated due to the low health pools at level 85 in comparison to what they'll be at 90. (Effective Health) :/

Resilience was a silly stat to begin with. In 2-3 seasons the damage mitigation will be higher than the levels of S11 even with "power" added in.

This is assuming the FAQ at the top of the page is correct?

Well, the highest resilience on beta at the moment is 65%, and pvp power got to around 30%-33%.

    65-33 = 32.

I think this is how it works, and I hope I'm right. If it's correct, then it's pretty OK to have 32% damage reduction, and you can still burst through it.

I just can't believe how people can enjoy 4 second fights in PvP...

You know that most people actually enjoy being able to push a button or two........they don't however like to die during a blink of a eye.

Having a lot of fun with burst atm, Deep freeze -> scorch -> inferno blast -> pyro -> combustion -> pyro fun does like 100-120k+- damage along with crazy ignite and combustion damage. I.W.I.N button every 45 seconds l0l :3

    pre-expac patch like any other.

it does not have anything to do with the pre-x- pac patch-but rather the class you play- mage.

Well, if PvP Power acts multiplicatively to Resilience, it doesn't make sense considering what we're currently seeing in PvP:

Fire a spell, buffed by PvP power, makes it 1.33x as strong.
When it hits a character buffed by PvP resilience, it reduces the damage by 65%, which is 0.35x.
    1.33*0.35 = 0.4655, which makes the effective reduction 53%.

I thought that this change was supposed to stop people globalling each other, and if they change the interaction between PvP Power and PvP Resilience to multiplicative, then it will. You'd just need to fix healing (as it'd double dip from the caster's PvP power and the target's PvP Resilience).

WoW isn't dying. 8.3m = early BC subs.
    W/L/Death count: Wolf: 0/1/1 | Mafia: 0/4/4 | TPR: 0/2/2
    SK: 0/1/1 | VT: 1.5/1.5/3 | Cult: 0/0/1
LFR has made raids economically viable again. No LFR, no raids!
Hence, Normal raiders should be thanking LFR players, not belittling them.
