Best option for a GPU for 1366x768.

    Hey,

So I'm looking to get a new GPU for my girl friends computer she currently has a 4850 but it's noisy and gets abit too hot.

What would be the best option to go for at 1366x768 for ~£100. I was thinking a 6850/460 but I can't find any decent priced ones on UK sites. Would a 7770 be the better option to go for at this resolution?

Yes, i would say, that the 7770 is your best option. And with the low resolution, it will run even demanding games with high details.

In modern games with a typical 1080p resolution, the 7770 is about equal to the 6850. BUT the resolution you are talking about is only half of the pixels of 1080p, and in such a scenario, older cards tend to scale a little better. So a 6850 would most likely have a bit higher fps than a 7770.
Nonetheless, as i already said, such a resolution won't stress both cards much.
Why do something simple, when there is a complicated way?

    6850/460/560/7770 all should do.

1GB 7850s are dipping down into the $150 USD range. That's where you should be looking.

I'd vote for a GTX 460 with a non-reference cooler if you can find one for that price. Short to that, a Radeon 6770 or (preferably) a 7770 would be other good choices. I would not recommend the GTX 550 Ti or the GTX 650; the AMD solutions are better for cheaper.
