I roommate plays it and is quitting here soon, I can already tell. His biggest complaint was that the game was designed for casual game play and for the typical mmo player, that means you can hit lvl 80 in a matter of days time. The game was also designed for group play with questing involving 10-40 players in some instances... he says now he's lucky if he can find 2 or 3 players to "attempt" a quest designed for 20+. Finally, making alts is discouraging now due to the fact that the zones are dead and all he does now is play by himself with no players around. I remember watching him play when it came out and every zone was full of players.

To me this is just like saying "I played Final Fantasy 7, beat it. Nothing to do after last boss, got a refund."
Do you have the same mentality with single player games? Just curious.

I still find it very fun, but I play for dungeon runs now, and I'm working on getting one of my characters 100% map completion. I really did enjoy spending the first few weeks in Orr and Frostgorge to make money and gear up.

If I had to fault the 'end game' - the Orr zones were much more fun the first week (counting headstart) - and not because it was new, but because no one had access to a good level 80 gear set and the zones weren't packed with karma farmers. There was still a challenge present. Now it's simply filled with people who just want buckets of karma for no effort other than equipping aoe skills.

As far as gameplay goes, there aren't too many cookie cutter builds and you need to use your own creativity to see the variables and customization present in the skills and traits. There are so many interesting combinations and builds, but most people don't want to look past 'omg i only have 10 useless skills' (completely not true for any profession btw). GW2 is all about looking past the obvious, experimentation, and exploration. If you want a linear path to follow through all parts of the game you will not enjoy it.

I went into this game with the proper expectations, having played all BWEs and followed the games development for a very long time. That said, I think almost anyone could find enjoyment in the game if they play it sporadically, but only a certain crowd of gamers are going to play it as their one and only MMO. GW2 is going to see a lot more breaks and returns than any other game.

Is GW2 not up to the hype, like SWTOR and is everyone just quiting already ?
People on forums are generally extremely negative. Take everything with a grain of salt. Im still playing it and having a blast.

I have stopped playing, though i wish i didn't. It's a great game but at this moment in time there isn't anything keeping me want to play, i'm just waiting out the next big patch content/expansion now.

Its not bad. I'm sort of over the whole MMO thing, but as far as fantasy mmos its probably the best modern one right now. Its far from perfect of course, but I think all MMO games are phoning it in right now.

90% of the time i get on overflows on the starting areas, there are zones where not much people are, depends on the server, same happened to leveling in other games, some areas are quite empty, others not, nothing too groundbreaking.

As TB said in an earlier Mailbox, the whole MMO-RPG genre is getting stagnant, people might want to get into a new MMO that innovates a little bit, sort of like planetside is doing right now.

I usually don't post about GW2, because for me it went like... I played it a ton at first with some friends, then we tried Ascalon Catacombs at the appropriate level with other people who had already done it and knew how to tell us what to do to make it go smoother, and I came to a realization when we kept corpse-running back in to keep a boss' health from resetting. The dungeon was not tuned properly, the trash is much too hard, and it simply wasn't an enjoyable experience. To the degree that I logged out, and have not logged back in since, because I figure that's what the rest of the game's dungeon experiences are probably like.

I didn't feel like leveling up a character with pretty much that to look forward to. Coupled with the lack of WoW-style Battlegrounds, having seen that their "WvWvW" PvP involves spending many minutes running across the zone to get to the fight, with no respawn mechanics to make that a bit less tedious. It just didn't seem fun and worth the time investment.

If you cried with AC, then you have a serious skill issue.

Don't feel like commenting on your whole post, but you're slightly confused about this. It's WoW style arenas that GW2 is missing, not BG style maps.
sPvP is played with either 12 or 16 people (depending on hot join or tournament)

Yeah insulting people is going to make the game more populated. When its you and 12 other people, you're going to have a tough time being all smug and superior aren't you.

If over 2million people quit due to 12 of those 2million being smug and superior, WoW would not last nearly as long as it has. Or any MMO/FPS/RTS/competitive game to ever release, really.

I didn't say it did. I said it didn't help increase population. I think it would be evident if you took a second to read instead of jerking your knee at the keyboard that the reason the person quit was because of the difficulty and lack of fun of the dungeon.

There are way more productive ways to go about getting information about how people feel about the game/how many are still playing than this.

Closing this down as posts haven't been the greatest so far and I don't see them improving very much with the title of the thread and direction it's been going.
