    Elemental shaman damage

Anyone else feel a little disappointed with the damage/dps output after 5.0.4?

My damage is lower now than it was when i was raiding DS in march/april, and it is, frankly, saddening to see other classes with (significantly) inferior gear doing the same damage.

What has your elemental shaman *experience* been like since the latest patch?

And for the record; I am a bis geared shaman with dragonwrath holding high dps rankings in DS heroic, so I know what i am talking about

Shamans have incredibly strong level 90 talents. Your damage will most likely level out by 90 :] But yes, Ele Shamans drew the short straw with the prepatch and their DPS suffered a lot.

You lost a pretty powerful set bonus if you change to that sweet looking echo of the elements. Which is lame. And other talents that lowered the CD of elemental mastery as well.

Also elemental mastery doesn't seems as good now, as it was before. (I don't play elemental so much the last few years. So i haven't kept up on their theory crafting, and may be wrong )

I doubt any shaman with the tier bonus would choose any talent but elemental mastery. Also its right that the cooldown of elemental mastery is about 30 seconds longer without the old talent

As with any pre-expansion patch, we're tuned for level 90, not for 85. And Shaman, in particular, gain more in those 5 levels between level 90 talents and Ascendance at 87 than any other class in the game.

I am confident it will even out a little once we get into mop. It just made me a little sad panda coming back to this

Was pretty disappointed with my damage in 5.0.4, went from near top to near bottom (25 man raids, not counting stormlash though) but we're missing a really good cooldown and level 90 talents. We also got a substantial buff to lighting bolt damage a few days ago, so I'm pretty optimistic about how we'll perform at 90.

We have a lot of utility now too, which will help in pvp and pve - I'm sure there will be plenty of uses for things like hex/bind/capacitor/earthgrab/thunderstorm/grounding/heroism/ancestral guidance etc. in challenge modes on top of solid AoE and (hopefully) decent single target damage.

I found that my DPS pretty much remained the same; but yes, as has been said, we're gaining an awful lot in the next 5 levels and we're looking to be very good at level 90.

Pretty much everything you gain to level 90 is a direct dps increase. It's quite exciting actually if you think of it...
