Crucial m4 not benching at advertised speeds....

So I've tested this before, and I got read/writes in the 450-525 range.... but now suddenly, I am seeing something far different. -.-

Could it be because it's just HDTune and it's not showing actual reads and writes? Just this "transfer" crap?

    lol, update:

Try ATTO Disk. But it may be because your SSD is filling up.

p.s. I have the M4 as well and I don't think you saw 450-525 write speed. The M4 write speed is pretty slow (comparatively).

Oh I saw those speeds, trust me on that. After firmware updates, they sped it up.

    I know it's a terrible example... but...

Check the details: up to 500MB/s reads. When the m4 first came out over a year ago, it was only around 400~425MB/s reads.

I was talking about the write speeds. Crucial spec sheets lists the 128gb model as 175MB/s and my experience seem to corroborate that.

Yes I know write speeds are around there, but is the line showing read or write or a mix? I can't honestly tell, since I can't use HDTune Pro anymore. Don't have $35 to drop on it, I'll try out ATTO though.

What Firmware are you on? You should honestly be on 0309 or 000F, otherwise, expect problems at the 5,184~ hour mark...

When you got the 500+ speeds, was it right after you got the drive? Before much data was written to it? When there's zero written blocks ahead of a write before, speeds are generally better.

I just did this most recent ATTA test yesterday. After Windows has been reinstalled on it a few times, and several games. It has been down to 5GB free and is currently at about 24~GB free.
