The last steam survey still had the majority with 2 core CPUs. I don't think devs are jumping the gun and taking advantage of the new-age CPUs though. I think they are taking it as an excuse of bad optimization. If you look at PC graphics pre sandy bridge and post, not much has changed quite honestly... but games are becoming harder to run.

It was funny watching them blaming the servers for it, was getting 35-50 fps there myself but have everything on high...

Could make the game shit itself by spamming select to bring up the scoreboard.
