Yeah, thorium widget was used to freeze the guy so you didn't have to kill him. You got better loot if you finished the tribute run without killing him.

Kind of related, but who remembers getting to that robot gorilla quest in Un'Goro and not having a Mithril Casing on them?

OH, and you know if someone played vanilla if they knew about whipper root tubers, and knight dragons breath. Throw in some blasted boar lungs too while you're at it

I think the type of conversation you're attempting is even lower.

    Not read 1 comment about:

Being in a 40 man raid and only having party frames

    Or

Paladins having to buff everyone one at a time and by the time you got to last person the buff was nearly run out on the first one

    Or

Arcane Power and Zandalarian Hero Charm

    Or

    Knowing what Thistle Tea is.

Oh man, we did so many three man runs to get my friend in there for his enchanting training.

At Burning Crusade launch he stopped playing and gave his account to a mutual friend, who immediately decided enchanting was too costly and dropped it for herbalism so he could make money. It's silly because it's not his account anymore and he'll never come back, but when I saw that, I felt sick to my stomach. We put in so many runs!

If you used a mod package called "Insomniax".

Using a mod pack back then was common for anyone that used mods as using mods was a new concept, a very new concept.

The Wetlands-Khaz Modan Marathon. I will never forget that run on lowbie elves on my way to level in Dun Morogh or Elwynn due to how boring I found Teldrassil/Darkshore/Ashenvale to be.

Two classic ranks are shown due to account-wide achievements.

My 8 year old Paladin main

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...vement#81:a472 The rank I actually earned on my Paladin.

My 8 year old Hunter alt

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...vement#81:a452 The rank I actually earned on my Hunter.

Positive nostalgia, not to be confused with rose-tinted-glasses.

We share the same classic rank on our Alliance main, and I'm also retired, but contemplating Mists just for the exquisite music/quests.

When I was bored in BC at 70, I'd patrol the Wetlands Marathon road to escort low-level night elves and draenei to Ironforge.

hehe crossroads and tarren mill...didn't paly much in vanilla, dierwolf@emerald dream, xfered from darkspear...but ohh that was fun, i started after bg's were out though, went to mc once... very udnergeared and noobish, i decided with those repair bills(and me being a scrub and always releasing / not getting loot or gold...
i'd rather farm my epic mount OUTSIDE of doing anything dungeon/raid related lol..

farmed whelps in badlands for the pet whelp, got a drop, sold it for 300g, and got the epic dagger out of it which i (idiotically) used because it was SOO much better than my lvl 36 dagger....)

i was a weird combat daggers spec, imp ambush +daggerspec/precision/crit, and crit / backstab crit on assassination.

i'd ambush -> gouge -> backstab -> evis. mobs would be dead.
Still I cry, tears like pouring rain, Innocent is my lurid pain.

You played vanilla if you have the old type of epic mounts, white raptor etc.
If you did the drakefire amulet questchain.
If you remember what hydraxian waterlords rep really was used for.
If you had to go raid, to get the tome that made you learn Frostbolt rank 14 etc.
If you remember how tidious it was to prepare to fight Garr in MC.
If you know what detect magic was, and wich boss in MC it was important to use it.

I think those are vanilla only memories^^ can't remember more worth mentioning atm ;P

How about the run from southshore to scarlet monestary in vanilla? or the crockpot quest in STV that needed ore from arathi highlands then required you to run all the way to booty bay?

However you played vanilla if you remember the difficulty of the warrior quest to obtain fury stance.

Not sure if this was posted, remember the walk of shame when doing Ragnoros of Molten Core...going into Blackrock dungeon as a 40 man before trying Rag, getting the fire buff from the adds inside Blackrock (upper) which only allowed a certain amount in, mind controlling an add which gave the buff and cycling everyone through. Then to Rag quickly for a try.
