You know what really killed wow?

Nostalgia. I see these posts all the damn time, about how WoW will never be epic again. You know what, you're right. You can really only lose your virginity once. Everyone in epics? Damn sure they are. Epics might have been truly epic in vanilla because they were so far and in between. Once u got decked out, and BC rolled around what'd you do? You leveled and re-geared. You got new epics. Of course that feeling of getting epics at 60 isn't the same. You already did it once before. In a game of millions, do you really think you're gonna be that special snowflake?

The bottom line is, seriously, you can only lose your virginity once. Something can only be new and exciting once. do it enough and it becomes the norm. Boring. You think porn stars love fucking? Well, yah they probably do. Touche internet. Make the best of what you've got. If all you wanna do is hate and complain, that's all you're gonna get out of it. Things evolve, otherwise it gets stale. It's your choice to stay or move on and evolve with it.

You should possibly read the OP instead of just the title.

You're entirely right, OP, but honestly people won't listen. There will always be new people to whine and bitch over the game; it's a constant cycle. It's never the same people, so there's always new people who haven't heard logical arguments against their emotional claims.

It's never ending and utterly pointless.

hmmm, the porn star thing...never thought of it like that..interesting.

    OT
I agree, I remember when BC came out, I was questing along and a green dropped that was better than my epic...a little bit of me died that day, the glory of seeing purple text on my gear was about to change.

WoW is just like life, you get what you put into it, play the game in a positive way, it will be a positive experience, play negative, its a negative one.

I really hope a lot of you that complain and gripe all the time are not like that in RL, if you are, change before it consumes you like wow does.

Feels pretty alive and in a healthy, beautiful place to me. I also don't share your experience at all. MoP feels tremendously epic to me and gives me more sense of discovery, awe and virginity than WoW has in years.

OP never said anything about wow being dead (minus the title)...

I agree with the general idea. Most things are better the first time, and nostalgia causes a great deal of the QQ that plagues forums like these.

I thought it was REALLY introduction of battlegrounds or REALLY introduction of flying mounts or REALLY achievements or REALLY free epics or REALLY GW2 or REALLY SWTOR or really it's just an old game or REALLY nostalgia.
    Now I am confused?

I remember these threads. They used to be so much better. WTF happened to the devs of these threads? I feel like they had this cool idea of what these threads should be back when I first started seeing them, but now it's just like they're trying to appeal to someone else with these threads and I just don't enjoy them anymore.

I actually feel the same about MoP. i just see a lot of nostalgia affecting how players even view new content. they don't take it for what is is, and view everything with bitterness because it isn't vanilla.

Some may just be nostalgic, but other could plain think that it was actually better that way. More incentive to work for it even if the difficulty might not be that high all things considered. Problem with the change from expansion to expansion is blizzard didn´t explain people well enough that they would most likely need to switch gear straight away, or possibly that they shouldn´t have used the definition "epic" gear so fast. But easy to use hindsight to analyse things.

The word you want to use is "have" not "of".
You may have alot of stuff in your country, but we got Lolland.

    Not for me.

The homogenization of classes, raid-wide buffs, separate 10-man and 25-man instances for the same dungeon and normal/heroic killed wow for me.
I liked wow the way it was before 3.0.2.

OP is spot on, some people just fail to grasp that they've changed as much as the game has, nothing can be new forever and as the old saying goes "Familiarity breeds contempt"

I have to agree with OP, I still play from time to time, and I can find a little enjoyment out of leveling and seeing the new stuff, but its just not really as thrilling as it once was, and for me I think its the difficulty changes. Back in the early days when most of us didnt have a clue, going out and exploring and questing felt like a new, dangerous, exciting adventure. Every time I got to a new level bracket and went to a new zone I felt that sense of discovery and also a genuine pang of fear because you know what, mobs could really kill the crap out of you back then.

Now you can level from 1 to 85 (havnt played Pandaria yet) and not even die once, its become so mind numbingly easy that there could never be any real sense of adventure, mobs exist only to be looted and gain xp from, not to give you any actual challenge, we dont even get elite group quests anymore unless we queue for them.

WoW has become a faceroll quest grind to the cap and then spam easy dailies and a few relatively simple dungeons and raids that only require a bit of memorization to destroy them.

No danger means no real excitement anymore.

Or there isn't one simple reason as to why some do not enjoy World of Warcraft any more, but it is due to multiple and wildly varying reasons.
