Honestly man, get some alts. The profit margin for people with alts is HUGE. My main is Tailor/JC. My druid is Herb/Mining. My hunter is Alch/Scribe. All 600, all together raking in thousands a day, with little to no effort. While I realize needing to depend on another profession is a drag, BS's aren't the only ones. JC's need alchemists. Alchemists need miners. It's all a circle. Complete the circle and reap the rewards.

BS has by far the greatest stat benefit. Stop whining.

Every profession is not supposed to be profitable !
BS is still the best profession because it provides the most interessant perk : 2 sockets where you can put whatever gem you want, it's the most flexible...

If you want profit make an alt.

I just love that no one has mentioned engineering which is actually in the same spot as BS. But i guess its true that no one takes it seriously huh?

Tailoring really isn't making much of a profit unless you're spending your Spirits of Harmony to buy the PvP recipes. The epic gear costs Imperial Silk (I believe 6 of them each) and Imperial Silk can only be crafted once a day *unless* you're using 3 Spirits of Harmony to make one piece. So, no, blacksmiths aren't the only ones that have it rough.

I also think it is stupid that it requires living steel to make most of the good BS patterns, especially belt buckles.

Leatherworkers DON'T get their own materials, Skinners get the mats needed for Leatherworkers, and honestly? Cloth is pretty common by everyone, Tailors just get a better drop rate for their cloth

    Also Pro-Tip: Pick up mining
If you actually read his post he did refer to mining. So I assume he is complaining about not being able to make the items mentioned when he has both mining and blacksmithing without an alchemist when a leatherworker with skinning can make their patterns.

Really not hard to craft when you get 16 motes by Tillers alone, add in the ones you get for dailies.. yeah, you end up at about 2 spirits a day.

I'm not the only one...I've read some threads about this aswell and people are complaining about this profession.

The main problem is we are dependant on another profession (Alchemy).
This shouldn't be the case since the minning should give us the most materials required.
It's always been the intent to have some forms of dependency between professions. This helps create an economy of need vs. everyone being self-sufficient. For example, while you might need an alchemist, the alchemist is going to need a miner, etc. It's a big happy circle of life.

Except right now I've only got 12 farm plots open, plus I still have to grow vegetables for buff food/feasts. So, right now it's a little broken, but I know that in less than a week I'll have all 16 plots open and should be sitting on plenty of vegetables to be able to plant the motes.

^ This. By the way, every LW leg armor requires a SoH - go tell one of them about all your problems and they'll probably laugh in your face.

Just to start: Leatherworking requires Skinning.

Also: Engineering makes no profit(Not complaining), so why are you complaining about BS? Scopes cost a lot at the moment, for sure which will only decrease. Engineering also requires Living Steel to make our own beneficial Helmet, which is only used at the very start of each expansion(Unless more get added in). Then with that helmet gone, we have no use for our own gems. Engineers can't make Living Steel.

Also: With the current raid-drop patterns, we need Blood Spirit. Which is Disenchanted from Raid-tier weapons.

    engineers says hey

reason i recently lved alchemy and herbalism on alt.

600 mining and engineer on lvl 90 main
600 alch and herb on lvl 86 alt
    600 JC on 85 alt
    600 BS on 85 alt

working great, only problem is that a lot of things require spirit of harmony, witch require me to kill mobs and level, and with the amount of daily grind on my main, i don't have time for that

The complaint is Blacksmithing depends on mining and alchemy. JC and Engineering have the same issue. LW doesn't require skinning and another crafting profession.

And all armor crafting professions need Blood Spirit to make the raid gear. That isn't what this topic is about.

    Alchemy is dependant on herbalism
    Leatherworking is dependant on skinning
    Blacksmithing is dependant on mining/alchemy
    Jewelcrafting is dependant on mining
    Engineering is dependant on mining

Get over it and roll an alchemist, it really isnt that hard.

I dont think theres a massive issue with professions needing stuff from other professions to make things. Remember vanilla? Blacksmiths needed leather for some things, leatherworkers needed elixirs/potions for some, alchemists needed fish. I dont particularly mind stuff like that, the only problem is that the prices for living steel are insanely high at the moment. Even tipping (assuming its a stranger and not a friend/guildy) tends to come to a fair bit for most. My engineer wants the epic helm, but I need 6(!) living steel, which would cost me around 9k gold on my server, at least.

Ironically, I levelled my alchemy on an alt and discovered the living steel transmute but not the Trillium transmute. Fortunately my guildies help me there

Leatherworking: can make armor kits, epic BoE gear just by killing animals and getting the Leather. No dependant on other profession.
Jewelcrafting: Can get gems just by minning. The exception are the Meta gems.
Inscription:Can make Glyphs just by gatherting herbs.
Tailoring: Can craft blue and epic quality gear with just cloth which is free just like LW need to kill monsters.

Alch alt char is not the solution.
alchemy needs its resource from HERBING
    Leatherworking from SKINNING
    Jewcrafting from MINING
    Inscription from HERBING
