Trinket and professional specific abilities

Mainly about learn Herb or Engineering, please help me to make the decision. My question is if the professional ability can be used with the trinket at the same time for burst damage? I have been told some of them can but some others not. Thanks a lot.

No for engineering, yes for herb.

For engineering, using one or the other will incur a short cooldown on the other (currently isn't working correctly, see this post for info) that prevents you from using both at the same time. For herbalism, lifeblood can be macroed to the trinket, lifeblood is off the global cooldown.
