I learned it from a sexually active junior when I was a freshman in high school.

This was pre-sex education by about four months so I still thought the clitoris was on the inside of the girl (why else would they make pleasure noises while doing the deed, amiright?)

Never got "the talk", think I learned it by myself, had sex in 6th grade, etc.
Waaaaah this guy was mean to me! Waaaaaaaaah!

    I'm mean because you're stupid.

    Didn't really get the talk.

All my dad said was; "Son, just do it safely. You're not going to sleep over there before you've bought some condoms. Also, if you're too stupid to use them and she turns up pregnant, you're going to take care of the damn baby. You've been warned."

Well damn, guess who went shopping that day.

Holy crap, I'm shocked to see how many parents refused to educate their kids. I got the bare bones talk when I was very young. Maybe 6 or 7? I remember asking my parents which night of the week they "did it". Glad I never got an answer to that. I got more talks when they'd walk in on me doing my business as a teen.

I'm not sure when you went to school but now they do a good enough job that THANKFULLY your parents don't have to talk to you about it....

And they discussed you doing your "thing" with you... dear god....

Well, I'm 27 so a long time ago. I'm grateful these programs exist now; no one should have to learn from the internet or a bunch of horny, ill-informed friends.

Yeah, I could have done without THOSE talks. To future parents: when you walk in on your child handling himself, he doesn't want you to come in, sit down, and tell him it's normal, he wants you to GTFO. At least wait till he's done :P

Yeah it really depends on where you're from I think. It's not like there wasn't an interest from my parents to teach me, it was that I had already been taught well enough.

I'm kinda surprised the education was as good as it was considering the state I live in and what other political ideas are really dominant here.

Yeah, probably. If I had to guess, I'd guess middle states would have lower rates of parents educating their children than coastal states, but that's really just an assumption. There are higher rates of religion in middle states, but my parents are religious and I'm from California.

Walked into my parents bedroom when i was 8ish to find my mum in the doggy position, i had the talk shortly after that. What has been seen...

It is really alarming to think that so many people learn about this in school yet you still have many people who oppose teaching this subject, I wonder if most schools still require parental consent to take sex education class

    This. Parents never said anything.

My parents never talked to me about those things, and now, I seriously hope my mom wont, kinda old for that now.

The net and school, a bit, taught me all those things, not from my parents.

Isn't "the talk" something that only happens in American Pie movies? Never heard of anyone who actually had any conversation with their parents regarding the changes you go through puberty. I don't even know why it's such a big deal, you get hair under your arms, so what? Why do you need a "talk" about that?

Never had the talk with my parents, and damn am I happy about that. As far as I am concerned, both my sister and I arrived with the stork and my parents are both virgins.
My sister talked to me about the stuff she knew and then the school did the rest.

We had quite a bit of sex ed in school, from a very early age. I remember once at around 5th grade or so, (11/12 years old), the teacher slapped on a porn movie and showed up about 30 seconds of it, however most of us were probably laughing for about 29 of those seconds and didn't really follow it (I'm exaggerating), and she ended with a "And this kids, is how NOT to do it. Other than that, we had 1 lesson a week for about a year on what happens to both genders during puberty and the urges you get. We also had to fill out a "survey" on how many of the things we had experienced. Suffices to say, that was 20 awkward minutes.

Didn't get the talk. Didn't really need it either.

My dad just told me that my actions can have consequences and I'd better be ready to live with them.
