Inotherwords, the Orion storage rings don't rotate for gravity like the animation shows, but merely offer the ability to rotate around that access to align for loading. That makes a bit more sense.

As for the PvP complaints: Cry me a river. The game is intended to simulate a "wild west" space scenario. The slider is for encounters period, not even pvp specifically; and you can even contract NPC or Player escorts for shipping runs if you don't have corpmates, on top of insurance to cover both ship and cargo. Being 100% risk averse is rather pathetic IMHO.

Keys words there. Not everyone finds the same thing enjoyable.

Well even thinking back to Star Control or Stars! There was always an element of risk, enemies, or "bad things may happen to you" while playing. It's space -- it's big. Unknown. Filled with who knows what.

I'll just be glad in knowing you have an extreme minority opinion and the game isn't catering to it

So what is that opinion. Because I'm pretty sure I haven't stated my opinion about this game in our conversation.

Wingman's Hangar was much better for the purpose, only for the reason that the host was far more charismatic than that pair, neither of those two are really built for being a show host.

So I'm kinda confused now -- the Orion is not only a mining logistics ship, but also going to be used as a primary mining ship? I figured it was just going to be a "rock buster" for smaller ships and drones, but this is talking about using tractor beams and we see the shredders in the front there. And how does that mesh with drones offloading to the storage rings? Does that just remain unprocessed then?

It is both. A mining AND refinery ship. Large enough to refine rocks to offload to other transport ships or just do the mining, refining and transport itself.

Lots of news. The Public Test Universe for Arena Commander patch 1.1 is live. Big patch with a lot of additions and tweaks. One cool one is that the face-masking tech for characters was applied to the default pilot. Here's a screenshot someone took of him. Looks great...

And an in cockpit vid of the pilot with a Gladius (which has new damage states now)...

The Feb Monthly Report is up and at PAX East we'll have the first demo version of the FPS module playable there. It will be debuted on Sunday. PAX East users get a pass for a free week of play of Arena Commander. Here are the details....

Great article/interview video with CR about Zones/Instancing and such in the PU

    http://www.gamersnexus.net/gg/1854-c...ing-and-zoning

great for GN to get Chris to get pretty detailed on this that has been bothering people and making people guess for so long. Basically, it's what some of us expected it was A cake made up of many different sized and independent slices side by side, not on top of and separate from each other like old ways of doing things.

~2minutes and ~9minutes for the meat

Do you see me asking for any change here? I think you are misunderstanding what I said.

This game looks really cool, but I feel like you'd need a fiber connection and a super computer to play it :/ Though when I hear about different parts of the game my mind goes off on these adventures of 'omg it would be cool to do x or y'.
