With the $22 million dollar funding goal passed today, Chris Roberts announced the $24 million dollar stretch goal. $23 million used to be the goal but now it looks like that stretch goals will be continuing as long as funding continues. That being said, these stretch goals are supposed to be coming post launch of the game.

Public Transportation System – Need to get from one place to another but don’t have a starship? We’re building a galactic transportation system. You can travel via transport from system to system in Star Citizen and even ship items (like a ship you need move to another hangar.) With this stretch goal, we’ll expand this system: star liners, long range transports, charter ships and flyable shuttles!

Cool Aurora commercial released today that shows what type of ship customization that can be done in game...

That one video alone completely sucks me into the game. It makes me think of some commercial that 1000 years in the future people will just be chilling at home watching their Holo-vision, and that Ad for the new Aurora comes on, and they think "AWW HELL YEAH Time to get a new Ship Loan and take that baby out for a spin."

First time a trailer has made me feel immersion in a game :/

I was looking at that and it doesn't give a lot of information. Is it a second ship? or does it replaces the current Aurora? Or is it just a new skin and some new parts? I want to buy it but I'm not going to until they give some information. There are multiple forum posts about it but no official answers from what I can see.

it is an upgraded version of the normal Aurora ship (reading the brochure lol) that comes with two weapons and other two weapons hardpoint so I can imagine that it will substitute the original aurora that is basically inferior in everything

In any case it is an upgrade, if you get two ships al the more, but even if it is not the ship is definitely better
I think that it also depend on what option you use, there's the "upgrade option" at 10 Dollars and the option to "buy" the package that is around 35 Dollar, so I think that there are both options

to be honest I wanted the Aurora CL the mercantile one but there's no option to get that too

I ended up melting my Digital Bounty Hunter package and upgraded to the Advanced Hunter package. It was $10 more but I did end up getting the Avenger (instead of the 300i), 2 extra months of insurance and the Business Hangar (instead of the Discount Hangar) for that $10 extra bucks.

Those packages are for people who haven't pledged yet. If you melt down your current package that you have you should be able to get one of these packages. I'm not a Vet backer so I cannot confirm or deny if this will work. I think it's more or less to avoid people spending extra on packages they don't need when you can just get the ship as an addon.

I so want to love this game. I so want it to blow my socks off. However, I've been burned enough times, and Chris has disappointed me enough times, that I'll wait till after launch, and reviews, before throwing money at it.

Its just amazing at how much money people throw at this game, hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a game thats 2 years out if that. Releasing small by small peice that i will put money on will introduce pay to win, i mean they have got to be salivating at the mouth at how much money people have tossed at the game for this founder shit for these small packs and they can just dream of how much money they can pump from people once its out. Also is it just me or do i just keep seeing tiny ships, if this gona be a frigate game or are we going to see bigger ships, capital ships ect.

Dog-fighting is at the heart of the combat but there are capital ships used by NPC's that can be captured by players. The biggest ships I think players can get so far are corvettes (up to 10 man ships).

I hope they add more being 140m in length is a real joke. Lets just hope they add some beefed up ships otherwise star cit will be a scifi universe where people run around in kiddie toys poised as starships.

That's the safe approach. And that's a good one. Wish more people would do that with more games instead of purchasing them on day one and then be horribly disappointed.

I'm a lost cause, I funded star citizen and I pledge for Kickstarter because I want devs to be free from the enslavement of publishers even though I know it carries risks.

I still think Chris's triumph was Wing Commander III. Then you had ones like Armada, and that movie? Blech... I really hope Star Citizen is amazing and sell zillions. Anything to help break the mass market appeal nightmare.

that's only gonna happen when more and more Devs will manage to get self funded instead of rely on Publishers that injects as many attached strings as money when they come into the picture.

It was awesome when Chris Avelone said that no one wanted to publish a CRPG like Project Eternity because "there's no market" then they got funded through kickstarter and more, and suddenly publisher became interested.

You can't pledge for these type of ships but they are limited and but obtainable in-game...

Bengal Carrier
Battlecruiser
Frigate
Cruiser

All of these ships are most effective with a full crew of real players on it, so essentially large guilds will have to try to capture and crew these types of ships.

The game doesn't come out until early 2015 as you know, but you're able to play the different parts in alpha/beta form up until then. As long as you pledge early enough (there's still ~10k spots left) you'll be a part of the building and testing process. The game isn't P2W either, as once the game is released you will no longer be able to buy ships like you currently can. Currently you're donating toward the game development period and you're rewarded with some neat ships. I honestly have no problem throwing some money at it as it's going to be a game that I will play a ton. When I think of how much over the 7 years I played WoW that I spent this seems like pennies.

There are different sized ships, but they don't want to let you get everything before the game comes out. There's going to be 50-60 different variants and ship styles when the game is released in 2015, and we're only seeing a very small number of the ships. There are larger and different sized ships such as the carriers and destroyers. These ships cannot be bought and must be acquired by taking them over through various means. The Bengal class carrier (the one in the trailer) for example is over 1km long and takes roughly 750 to man the crew to full capacity. It can hold many smaller sized fighter ships on it and it's designed to be a ship of organization operations. The neat thing about these larger ships too is that you do not log out with them somewhere so they cannot be raided. They have to be manned 24/7 otherwise someone will find it and snatch it up.

But sorry to say that this isn't EVE where everyone can be flying around piloting ships the size of space stations. These larger ships are going to take some time and coordination to acquire, as well as lots of money to maintain them.

Can't wait to upgrade my PC so I have a reason to buy in. 4 gigs of RAM and an ATI 4850 HD just doesn't cut it anymore. :<

It runs ok on my computer in just the hangar so far, nVidia needs to come out with a proper profile for it to work at 5760x1080, right now it stutters when you move the mouse but otherwise it's smooth and sexy on High settings. 3770k and a gtx 690.
