OH boy, this is a classy thread.
White Privledege, to the bible... I guess It be begging reprisal to just add a Hitler comment to round all this off.
I think maybe we should just put side by side, a black guy and a white guy, and see who can get the least sentence when they commit the same crime. It's like that old saying goes, "there are many more white people who smoke crack, but much fewer who get arrested for it."

Idk I think Gay Pride has it's place, because we still live in a time where being gay is a srs problem for some people. I think tho, when equality is reached, down the road there won't be as much of a need for PRIDE, so it would eventually have to go away because it would of become just like all the rest.

That I can agree with, being a lesbian.

One could say the only reason I agree is because I am part of said group, but considering how badly (more in some areas than in others) gays are treated (ranging from taunting/teasing to murder) and how rampant it is in several areas, we need a strong voice right now.

So I guess I'll change my answer to ethnic type groups like George Carlin said.

You're saying that forcing people to share is bad. I don't think the Bible takes a stand on that one.

I didn't say it was bad. I said it wasn't good in the same way voluntary donations are. And mr. A is not charitable when he takes money from B and gives it to C. In fact, none of the three are charitable and "good".

Once again Louis C.K. says it better than I ever could.

I think he's missing a lot.

His argument about "white people can go to any time in a time machine" is pretty silly. His example, "year 2" doesn't even help- his ancestors at that point were extremely tribal and pretty primitive. He just thinks, hey, Rome was around, right? But Rome would be very distrustful of someone of his complexion, hair color. Meanwhile, being a black dude in Rome wasn't a big deal, even if not so common. So where would Louis CK end up in year 2? He'd have to carefully choose his stuff.

He's taking a colored view of history, literally. He's assuming that since at all points in recorded history some small pocket of western civilization was civilized, that "everything was ok for white people", which is ridiculous. And if he did go back then, he'd have little to no political freedom, as that hadn't been invented yet. Then he takes a very shitty view of Africa throughout history, ignoring the sections of Africa that were civilized and wealthy.

And he also ignores that while plenty of African tribes have a peaceful history that lasts centuries, you pretty much have to pick and choose your location in Europe to avoid getting gacked or involved in some terrible plague. White people have sections of their DNA which grant partial resistance to the bubonic plague- this is because it killed SO MUCH of Europe that it actually reduced genetic diversity, and having any resistance at all became a survival feature. Wanna be white then, or would you rather be some other race in that time machine?

He also doesn't list the actual racial pick for the discerning time traveller- Han. China has been forever, and while it's had its share of wars, famines, and other bad stuffs, it's been hugely successful overall.

African Americans are largely descended from West Africa, mostly tribes that were overpowered by stronger tribes, kept as slaves, and in some cases were sold to white folks. If you went back in time to slave owning America era, it would definitely be awful to be black then- in America. It wouldn't be so bad to be in most of the rest of Africa, or even the slaving tribes that did the capturing and selling. Meanwhile, being white back then was fine- in America. It wouldn't be so great in the parts of Europe that were lousy with revolution and death at the time.


There's also questions about "what would Abraham Lincoln say". Abraham Lincoln, while he absolutely helped end slavery, was very much not someone who's opinions would fit into modern times. Abraham Lincoln would be most at home on like stormfront or something- he believed that there should be no interracial marriage, and that whites were inherently superior to blacks. Today we'd laugh at and marginalize someone with his opinion- the fact that the doesn't believe blacks should be slaves wouldn't be much to his credit, as even most modern klansman and such won't say something like that.

Not to say that he wasn't super helpful in the liberation of blacks and the ending of chattel slavery, just that pretending he has modern sensibilities and a sense of equality beyond "no, we shouldn't own people" is projection of good qualities onto a convenient hero.

There's no difference in a black student's union and a white student's union, other than illogical beliefs as to one being more racist than the other. If black people were a majority and whites the minority, would it make a difference? Of course not.
