Why do the Republicans want to take away a woman's right to control her own body?

Why exactly are the Republicans so vehemently set on taking away women's rights to control their own bodies? Republican candidates such as Romney and Ryan, and the larger party as a whole, are openly denying women of their reproductive and sexual rights to their faces, and some women are openly accepting this. Why would any self respecting woman that values the control she has over her own body vote Republican?

The Democrats firmly believe such issues should be kept between a woman and her doctor. The woman herself, in cooperation with a qualified medical professional are best suited to make such decisions. Not clueless politicians, some who lack knowledge in basic physics and don't even know that opening windows in a plane at 30 000 feet would cause an explosive decompression...

-Why are the Republicans so bent on taking away a woman's right to control her own body?

Ill put it simply... its not taking away her right, its forcing her to take responsibility for her actions... like every person should.

You misrepresent the Republican mindset. They aren't trying to oppress women, they are trying to save human lives. To them it isn't a women's rights issue, it's a human rights issue. The "Republicans hate women" argument is a straw man. They believe it's murder.

Edit: I can't speak for this guy above me, just all the Republicans I know in real life.

Because (in their own overzealous way), they don't want abortion to be the go-to birth control.

They also do it just to annoy you.

No.. its limiting the number of choices she can have to still be a responsible person. Having people "take responsibility for their lives" is pretty much the prime example of mindless rhetoric, and goes hand in hand with a "47%" mentality.

As someone previously said here, its not so much that Republicans "want to take away a woman's right to control her own body". Its wanting to keep people accountable / responsible for their choices, and a firm belief that life starts at conception.

Because knowledge of physics plays a large role in a pro-life or pro-choice debate. The mods should take this thread down since nothing good will come of it. Some people believe in different things than you and have their own reasons for believing what they believe in.

how is that "forcing someone to be responsible" when you take away a responsible option?

Republicans view such an arguement as: she already proved irresponsible by not having safe sex, and knew what could happen otherwise, so now she has to take responsibility for her choices. (of course its null in cases of rape, incest, or in danger to the mother, which republicans also agree with democrats on)

Are you talking specifically about abortion, or broader issues (including birth control pill coverage, contraceptives, etc.)?

If abortion... They believe that an unborn child is still a separate human being with rights, and not merely an extension of a woman's body that she can choose to kill if she desires.

And if the Republican view is that safe sex isn't an option on the table?

but you can have safe sex and get pregnant.

Because Democrats compare an unborn child to a body part which is despicable.

Then you're not speaking for all republicans. You're speaking for the vocal minority who think that sex is only for reproduction. Let me tell you, that's a very vocal minority.

Just like gun control for democrats, abortion is something that the republicans use to rally their base. Its basically political chum they use to stir their voters. It doesn't make sense because its not supposed to, its an appeal to peoples feelings.

Yep, which is why every woman that miscarried must be put on trial. Until we know it was natural, we cannot confirm that a woman did not cause the death of a child. If someone kills someone else because they were negligent drivers, they go to trial. Same should be for women who are negligent to their bodies, which leads to miscarriage. What if the lining rejects the furtalized egg, obviously the woman needs to pay for what she did! Responsobility!
