    Healing Officer 101?

So basically I am the best healer in my guild and our healing officer had to quit due to life sit. Basically how can I be a helpful and good Healing officer? =S Any tips and suggestions will help a lot thank you!

Understand all healing classes. If you are a Paladin but don't know anything about Shaman heals, Priest heals, etc - then you wouldn't be a good officer. You can't help dictate and formulate strategies if you don't know the other classes in and out.

Go level other healing classes if you don't know and want to make yourself look good to the guild. Read build threads and whatnot. If your resto druid is underperforming, can you check his armory and enchants? Do you know the itemizations for other classes, how reforging should be done, etc?

And can you yell at somebody when they don't heal properly, don't follow their assignment, or do something stupid? Can you do so without coming off as an ass but as a peer giving constructive criticism?

As with any management position, getting respect and trust involves 1) giving it out and 2) proving yourself, your knowledge, and your ability to adapt.

    Good luck.

Absolutely follow what Yau says above:

    1) Know what your healing team brings to the table in terms of raid walls etc. If you know everyone's toolkit you'll have a good idea of what to look for when you go over logs.
    2) Be tactful in your criticism. Be your own biggest critic. The important thing is to dish out praise as well. A simple "awesome job everyone" engenders good will.
    3) Lines of Communication/Authority: make sure your healing team is in a channel on raid night. /heals - whatever you want to call it. Make sure everyone knows you call the shots. Designate someone else to back you up when you can't make a raid night.
    4) Really Really Really know the fights. Invariably someone will either not watch a video, read a strat, or forget something. You should always have the answer.
    5) Provide resources to your fellow healers. Not everyone knows about some the blogs or forums out there: talesofapriest.com, plusheal.com, lifeingroup5.com etc.
