    Stagger DoT Refresh

Does anyone know how the existing Stagger DoT is changed or what happens to the remaining stagger ticks if you take another staggered hit?

If you take a staggered hit the time on the DoT resets and the size of the ticks increase.
But how is the size of each new tick calculated?
Is the remaining stagger damage spread out over the new DoT, meaning the total staggered damage is added and then divided over 10 ticks (e.g. the old dot was 10k/tick with 4 ticks remaining (40k), you stagger another hit wich nets another 10k/tick and 10 ticks, so the new dot would be 100k+40k=140k or 14k/tick with 10 ticks)
or are the ticks just added (10k/tick with 4 ticks, add 10k/tick and 10 ticks -> 20k/tick with 10 ticks)
or is it calculated for each tick separately? (10k/tick with 4 ticks, add 10k/tick with 10 ticks -> the first 4 ticks do 20k/tick, the next 6 ticks do 10k/tick)

My guess is it just adds up the remaining dmg on the old stagger, adds in the new staggered dmg, and then its divided by the duration and # of ticks.

first hit 10k stagger which is 1k each sec. After 5sec it is only 5k of the dot left and you get a new hit which adds 14k, then the damage will be 14k+ remaining 5k at 19k total for 10sec resulting in 1.9k each sec for 10sec.

they just add the new stagger amount to the old and divid it for 10sec

This is pretty interesting. For argument's sake: if you take a large hit and create a 300k stagger, you will be taking 30k damage a second right? Lets say 5 seconds passes. You are taking 30k a second still for 5 more seconds. Then you get hit for a tiny amount, 10 damage. This means that the new stagger is now 150,010 divided by 10, so 15.001k per dot. So by getting hit with the tiny shot, you have actually reduced your stagger damage taken by 15k a second, though it will of course last for 5 more seconds.

This scenario is virtually impossible during actual gameplay due to purifying brew, but it does illustrate an interesting point regarding Stagger and the inherent smoothness of damage intake that it offers.
