/sigh really disappointed with the defiler. Not sure why it isn't labeled as support because that's basically what it is.
Guess I'll try harbinger.

I won't even try it until I'm 60. I see mixed reviews so far some people seem to like it and others not so much the jury is out for me atm since I've not given it a fair shake and like I said that won't happen until lvl 60. But it's by all means a support class imo DPS/Hybrid class which isn't bad for people who like that. Warden healing so far has been good I'll try some more healing builds out prior to SL launch.
Harbinger seems to be a hit with the people I've been playing with.
It isn't labeled as support is whats annoying (trion is dead set on not having a cleric soul labeled support). I also can't see it viable in raids outside the link. You can't even effectively heal with it unless you go deep in another tree and the lower tier abilities aren't enough to justify having the rest of the points in defiler.
I do like scythes though.. mmm harbinger.

Defiler is okay. It's kind of a specialist soul though. Some situations it's useful or can work well.
From what I saw the soul scales pretty well with gear. When your group doesn't need a lot of direct healing anymore and a tiny bit more DPS or support skills make a 5MM/10r just a bit faster/smoother.
I think Trion said they are okay with not every soul being 100% necessary for raiding. Some souls are just more suited to solo/small grouping or open world stuff. It's in the cleric reveal video where they say it.
But they made the new soul from scratch with that in mind? I doesn't sit right with me. I mean they could of done everything, but they made a -icar only suitable for 5 mans...I think Trion said they are okay with not every soul being 100% necessary for raiding. It's likely they just made a new soul with a specific playstyle.
Doubtful the devs were saying, "We need a support cleric soul that will be necessary for all encounters."
Actually, I think Gersh said they don't go in thinking that in one of the reveals as well. Mage reveal was it?
Could just not play cleric or defiler of the playstyle is not fun. I mean people weren't hrmphing too hard over the lack of necessity of a void knight or dominator. Sometimes you need spell reflection or cleanse. Sometimes you don't and spec something else.
[Side note: Zito, your complaints in MMOs from Rift to Tera, Secret World and GW2 are among the most bizarre I read. Like I don't even get where you are coming from most of the time.]

hey guys the last time i played was just before the faction merges and i was wondering with SL can i finally raid casually?
Ive had alot of trouble in vanilla trying to find a raid guild as i could never get geared enough for what people were asking (usually hammerknell geared at least).
Also has alot of the ability bloat been reduced? I had to use macros all the time to the point i never knew what my abilities did.
And last question: What did they do with pvp progression? More than likely the only reason i would come back is to pvp really, its the only thing i could get into and have reasonable success within the game.
Torchlight II Vanilla Player
Looking for a vanilla only group?

I only got to play for a few hours last night, but I got to messing around with Harbinger and it was really cool. I had not clue what I was doing at first, but started to get a better feel for it by the end of the night. I definitely like the gameplay and feel it brings something different for the Mage Calling to the table. From looking at the talent tree, I *feel* like Harbinger is more suited for solo or small group play as was mentioned with the Defiler. Although I have not done any raids in Rift (let alone hit 50), take my words with a grain of salt. But as a previous raider in other MMO's when I look at a class's raid viability I look and say "what does this class bring to the table that others classes don't" or "what does this class do better than everyone else". I don't have a clear answer with Harbinger, but I can say that its very mobile and very fun.
Does anyone know if they have reduced the gap between PvP gear and raid gear when PvPing? (When I played raid weapons were much superior and for some classes/builds (or if you had a pocket healer) having 2/3 bits of HK gear + crystal were far superior - e.g - marksman, didn't matter having less valour when you don't get hit that often)
No one is level 60 as of yet; let alone at rank 80, but they have made some changes to the way PvP gear plays out when putting players in war fronts. It seems rank is no longer the determinant for "brackets" but stats, its too lengthy to copy but check out this thread:

{I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. }
Sorry about the bump, but I was wondering about craft rifts. I had a completed but not turned in quest for the craft rift lure (pre-SL one) and was wondering if there is going to be SL craft rifts and would they use the same lure? If they are around, would it be the same person that gives the regular dailies in Tempest Bay? Just 10 more armorsmith points to cap!
We're assuming that things implemented later in Rift (such as Craft Rifts, PvP Rifts, twisted artifacts, etc) will be added to the game in later patches. There's enough initial stuff to do and worry about that we can/should focus on catching up on the new basic things before we start exploring all the old updated/additional features.
I haven't played since launch so I have some questions.
I have noticed I can be in a guild and do lfg with the opposite faction, can I also go to their capital city or would the npc's still kill me?
What is the chronicle exactly and is it any good for leveling?
What is onslaught and do I have to be 60 for it to be select able from the actives menu?
I see people still doing the 50 raid weekly can the marks be used for sl gear?
What is required to get the robot spider looking mount, if it can still be obtained.
Lastly what is the best way to make money, I am always so poor from training and crafting.
no
Chronicles were 2-man version of Level 50 Raids. You really should be 50 to do them and there are better way to level post 50.
Onslaughts are like a little defense game. It is not a selected activity, it is an open world activity. There are spots out in the world where you can upgrade points and then several invasions will come try to take it back. They can be done at any level after 50 and there are multiple ones in multiple zones. Each time you come across one there is a daily quest somewhere nearby.
No, these are likely people who either have not bought the expansion yet, are using it to get XP to level, or are going back after having leveled to get the more difficult achievements.
not sure
I've never really had a problem keeping up, just about anything you do makes you money. Make sure to pick up junk and vendor it all as you level.
Maybe onslaught wasn't the word I was looking for. There is a option in the activities menu that is currently grayed out for me. I think it might of been conquest? I am level 54 and it says I do not meet the level requirement.
