I actually like her stuff for the simple fact she writes most of it herself. My little saying is "You know your life is depressing when you find yourself living a Taylor Swift song"

Yeah her lyrics are so profound....

"I remember when we broke up the first time
Saying, "This is it, I've had enough," 'cause like
We hadn't seen each other in a month."

If that's what people call deep these days then I fear for our generation.

Fucking hell, people will eat any shit up.
Reminds me of Amy Lee whining about Shaun Morgan.

I saw the thread title and I couldn't help but think of this:

Honestly, I don't see what everyone is upset about. Considering what other "artists" are top-selling right now, *cough*Bieber*cough*Minaj*cough*, Swift isn't bad.

Depends on the song. Won't it be great if you're living in Change?

Your shitting me right? Go listen to the Beatles or Rolling Stones. There stuff is not exactly profoundly deep here. Although I will admit alot of Taylors stuff is starting to mix together with the same themes it is still good.

Bingo. I may not be the biggest fan of her music but whenever I hear one of her songs on the radio I end up having it stuck in my head

Where's Kanye when you need him?

It's Ironic you bring up Kanye East when talking about crappy music. I personally can't stand her music, but his might be the worst of the generation.

Whats going on with cds actually selling this year. Mumford broke the record a couple weeks ago and now Taylor blows even their sales away. Guess piracy isn't killing the industry.

Anything can be taken out of context, or from just one song, to make the artist look like crap.

    "What a funky lady
She like it like it like it like that
    He was a lady"

    What's deep about that?

Nonesense, they'd have sold a billion copies if it weren't for those pirates! /sarcasm

She isn't real country if that's what you mean, but none of the country artists are real country anymore, haven't been for a very long time. Modern country music is just pop with an annoying fabricated twang added to it. It's pretty pathetic but somehow it's insanely popular.

I get catchy music. I find myself defending it a lot actually. I have never found a single one of her songs to be catchy though. It's catchy in the sense that a teen girl hears it and latches on because they think it's the most genious thing they have ever heard.

As for the sales, I wonder if they are taking in to account all of the CD's that several business have been giving away with their product as a promotion. I've seen promotions like this before, but not quite to this extent. Papa John's Pizza is one of them.

You take that back! Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is a fantastic album even if you aren't heavy into rap.

    This:

    "Don't stop me now
I'm having such a good time
    I'm having a ball
    Don't stop me now
If you wanna have a good time
    Just give me a call

This song is totally trash! /sarcasm

Don't diss the Beatles... I'm not a Taylor hater, but surely the Beatles had better lyrics than her.

    Hey jude, don't be afraid.
You were made to go out and get her.
The minute you let her under your skin,
Then you begin to make it better.

And anytime you feel the pain, hey jude, refrain,
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder.
If Taylor had written it, it'd go something like this:

Hey Jude, you should be ashamed
'Cuz you broke her heart and you used it against her
Oh, now she's crying all her nights away
Maybe you should effing call her

And if you start to feel bad, Hey Judy, don't cry
She'll probably move on before you're even better
And because you know that you're an idiot, for letting her go
And now you'll be in your bed all lonely
Why am I back here, I don't even play these games anymore

The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.

People are not burning CD's like they used to and are actually using iTunes way more now. Sort of the genius of Steve Jobs monetizing a illegal industry.

At least Kanye West is a genius music producer.

While he may have started to slack a little recently, College Dropout is an undisputed classic.

If Taylor had written it, it'd go something like this:
What about Back to December? Go listen to that? Teardrops on my guitar?? Some of her music is made to relate to your 14 year old obviously.

Depends on the song... Obla Di Obla Da (I like this song, but an example)

Ob-la-di, ob-la-da life goes on brah
La la how the life goes on
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da life goes on brah
La la how the life goes on

    or

Desmond takes a trolley to the jewelry store
Buys a twenty carat golden ring
Takes it back to Molly waiting at the door
And as he gives it to her she begins to sing
