Basically you're 2nd in terms of versatility (roughly same as alchemy or something?), and complaining about the #1.
    You are wrong.

I am not a Jewelcrafter, but I am able to see the obvious. Lets say that gemming a secondary stat has a higher benefit than gemming full primary stat (this is the case for many current specs). As a Jewelcrafter you are forced to gem 2x 320 primary stat to get the 320+ primary stat bonus from a crafting profession, but by doing so you are losing the possibility of gemming 320 secondary stat in those two gem spots.
Hence the performance cost of having Jewelcrafting as a profession (over any other non-BS crafting profession) is worth the loss of not having 2x 320 secondary stats, minus the gain of having 2x 160 primary stats.

Blizzard should just drop all this "uniqueness" of gear benefit of a profession, and add more uniqueness in what a profession is able to craft in terms of vanity crap/tradeable performance increases.
Every profession should grant 320+ primary stat. No secondary stats, no procs, no special enchants, or "on-use" effects that can be tied into cooldowns. Blacksmiths should only be allowed to put in (rare-type) primary stat gems into their extra sockets, and Jewelcrafters should be able to put a 160+ primary bonus on two gems of choice.

Anything else is flawed by design.

Except for BS, which does it better. But yeah, BS and JC are the only two professions that offer a non-primary stat option.

First off Blacksmithing can boost secondary stats.
But mainly the fact that you have to use 2 gemsockets as JC that provide primary stat bonuses with the JC gems already leaves you at a disatvantage because those 2 sockets could have granted you superiour secondary stats for evey other profession while giving you the same ammount of primary stats via a item enchancement. So no they are not STILL better than every other profession.

We have to gem red serpents to get our prof bonus. Thus we lose on secondary stats. No other profession has to gem red sockets.

This is especially bad for pvp where pvp power is the king.

BS > all other crafting > JC

The problem is that for a lot of specs secondary stats are anywhere between 0.5 and 1 times as strong as main stats.
What does that mean for JC?
    1) If you gem for your main stat you now have to use a pure gem instead of mixed one this means you'll only gain the 320 main stat at the cost of using a subpar gem color.
    2) If you gem for your secondary stat you get to keep the right color, but only gain 320 of a secondary stat which is worth less than 320 of a main stat.

JC is only a gain over other professions (other than BS of course) if the secondary stat is worth more than the main stat (pretty much no spec has that) or on par if it' worth less than 0.5 of a main stat (also fairly rare). Worst case scenario JC is only worth about 213 stat pts.

This hurts classes that depend more on secondary stats (like Mastery for Blood DKs) a lot and makes JC worse than BS for them. BS gives 640 extra Mastery, but JC only gives 320 extra Mastery. I thought all crafting professions should give equal stat bonuses like BS vs JC did in Cata before Epic gems came out in 4.3.
My Guild leader and Ast Guild Leader would agree on this point, his Warrior character is his Blacksmith and his Dk is the main tank, the extra Mastery would have been fantastic for his Tank character.

I know the GL is thoroughly peeved that Bliz changed the JC Mounts from being able to turn you into the Mount on Beta - to you just ride on it now. He was really Angry when he found that out.

JC NEEDS a PVP Power JC-Only cut. It is no secret that PVP Power is the kings offensive stat in PVP right now and to not allow for JC to cut this style gem makes it instantly inferior to BS. Enchanting is another profession that needs a PVP Power ring enchant. Same reason. Blizz, please address this gap in bonuses between professions.
