Is the taunt in DA bugged?

I have a short question regarding the taunt ability we have in DA (demo tank form).

Is the spell broken or is it intendet, not to taunt raid bosses?

Yesterday, we had to cancel our raid, due to a broken computer of one of our tanks and I suggested, that we may try Blade Lord Ta'yak with me in DA form, so we can have a look at the encounter mechanics.

Unfortually I was not able to get aggro with the taunt ability and the tankswitches were a lot of trouble.

Does the taunt not work on raidbosses? If so, this would force me to level one of my tanks, that we have a temporary replacement for the next raid.

yeah it doesnt work on raidbosses, a shame really but it looks like it will be a while before locks are going to be viable raid tanks tanking is really fun in heroics though so go nuts there

as it's a provoke and not a taunt you still have to build up threat so no matter if you would get the boss to attack you he would still switch target if you're not at the top of his threat table.

It is not a provoke, like distracting shot for example, it's an actual taunt. http://www.wowhead.com/spell=97827 and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=355 apply the same auras. It's just a "pet level" taunt meaning that it can't be used on bosses.

So it does bring you to the top of the threat table but doesn't work on boss level mobs? Like the Voidwalker?

Correct, it presumably doesn't work on Will of Emp adds either since the fixed it so pets couldn't tank them.

Ahh, I was gonna try tanking strengths as demo when we were progressing but we found a better solution in having our resto druid go feral and tank the strengths. It makes sense if it wouldn't work to use provocation now (building up threat shouldn't be an issue, though).
