Cool The Sanctum to return on Gamebreaker TV

Gamebreaker TV are finally seeing sense and bringing back The Sanctum, their weekly Rift show which they cancelled months ago due, to what they claimed, wasn't enough news or info coming from Trion

So i can now forgive them and once again bookmark the site, first show i think will be this Tuesday

Seemed more like GBTV didn't have a lot to talk about in Rift when the Sanctum was cancelled. Trion/Rift pretty much just go about business as usual. I understand how that doesn't always make for drama/excitement in stories or discussion the way TOR or World of Warcraft drama does. Rift is not a very "controversial" game comparatively.

Nice to have the show back. Hope they get some good hosts this time too. That was another problem, with The Sanctum. The hosts weren't on the level of Mike B and Lore.

Rift has a very good community that is unfortunately also very mute; very few blogs, very few Dedicated Streamers and youtubers, no demand from us for a dedicated loot-table esque website like other MMO's have. Its a weird phenomena; people always used to say, those who are unhappy just hit unsub, without being vocal about why they left. I think with Rift we have something of an opposite.

Case in Point: If you noticed, the current world event has a quest that is directly tied in to the exodus dungeon. without completing the dungeon, you can't get the final costume chest piece or the quest reward; fair game yeah? but the dungeon is only accessible to those who pre-ordered SL.... (they could have changed that, but I didn't see any evidence of a change in that policy)

NOT a single comment. In my book, that's controversial and I've been expecting some QQ of some sort but its no where to be found. It's almost a confirmation that either everyone has already gotten the xpac and/or are happily trudging away in game and don't see something like this to be a deterrent.

content people are content? I do not know.
    {I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. }

Yeah that's the biggest problem they don't have a dedicated source of hosts for the game. People like Lore stay dedicated to one game. (He knows where his bread is buttered) while the other hosts jump around to the flavor of the month game. I'm not knocking them for that it is the way things are when you're in the business of getting viewers. You need to stay with what's fresh. The lack of info coming from Trion was not the issue since we all know they have a steady stream of content.

The show for starters is going for a month I wouldn't count on it going for a gazzilion episodes until they do in fact find dedicated hosts for it that actually have valuable information and have a good "video" personality. I'm not certain who's hosting it from the get go and I don't care if their not a comedian or have blue hair (not a dig at pokket at all it's her thing and she does a decent job interviewing devs for many games) as long as they can present info and informed about the game I'll check it out.

As you said your show has to have drama too. A train wreck, mistakes, bad news etc etc draw viewers more then rainbows and unicorns, case in point if you watch the SWTOR feed and not to bash but it has lots of news just not much of it's good so it keeps the viewers. (Maybe for the wrong reasons)

For some reason I read that as the Vigil, and expected to have some god esque event happening...still cool news, but yeah...

But generally yeah, RIFT kinda isn't a very controversial MMO or anything besides "Hey, new stuff, it's cool."

Yea, there is some truth to this. You even see it in the few Rift podcasts around. For example, Rift Overcast only really was "controversial" during the early Conquest release. For the most part it is as one other poster pointed out; "New stuff came out. It's cool."

Conversely, we had hot topic stories week after week in TOR. From launch woes to developer slip-ups, big game changes, population dwindling, F2P announcement, controversial patch delays, et certera.

WoW is just too big. It's a cultural entity as much as a game. Guild Wars 2 a populist phenomenon. Etc.

It may not even be fair to say this is a Rift thing. Because I doubt a Tera, Secret World or LOTRO centric show would carry any better than Rift.

I watched almost every episode of Gamebreaker content and I find when they have hosts that are truly dedicated to the game that the shows offer the best content. Dedication that they will play the game no matter if there are good or bad changes. All their successful shows have this Guildcast Legendary The Republic.

It's difficult to make shows exciting if your hosts are so meh about the game. Think about their hosts they had on the Sanctum. Lore jasmine Ed pokket Matt they all quit the game. If they find solid hosts, it should definitely have some longevity. Hosts that will play rift through thick and thin.

I am really glad to see this is back. Trion has so much to talk about in rift, not to even mention their other games as well. I would be happy if it was just an hour of everything trion!

Ed was good. He's just an insightful guy no matter what game he is talking about. Problem was Ed is mostly a PVP player. And well... not much happens in Rift PVP to really shake things up/talk about in-depth.

Not that I would watch a PVP centric show on MMOs. But still, Taugrim is smart.

He did Rift then switched to SWTOR and then GW2 but it seems like RL has one shotted him and has kinda of dropped of the vlog scene for the most part now.

Sorry, MikeB and Lore are the Legendary guys, imo, for GBTV. WHen Jasmine left Rift/the Sanctum, that was a sad day. I remember her bubbly excitement during a tour of Trion's Offices for GBTV back in the day...

She made that show awesome. I hope she returns!

I think it would have to be someone completely new.... The other guys work on so many different projects it would seem impossible for them to put in enough quality time

Never seen that video before I have Jasmine on my Twitter. She's currently playing wow btw.

Off topic Russ Brown has lost some weight since that video.

Doesn't Ed still do Buildcast, the all PVP show?

I honestly have never watched an episode but saw a still from 2 weeks ago or so. Ed was still on the show as far as I am aware. Makes sense as GW2 is totally skill based PVP w/ a heavy focus on MMO PVP.

This is great news! Will be looking forward to watching these again!

Yeah he sure does He's hardly playing these days and his personal blog and twitter has gone dry. He did make a post that RL job is taking so much of his time I like him he's one of the most down to earth players that leaves fanyboyism (is that a word?) out of it. The other guy that does Buildcast is Matt he used to be a hardcore raider in Rift I forget the name of the guild (Maximation? or something)

Definitely true about having hosts that play the game. I've continued to watch The Republic basically because I like hearing their take on the constant slow motion train wreck of PR. Also, watching Justin squirm and dodge tough questions is funny. Ed used to be the guy that would speak his mind on the show, with Larry mimicing him. Now Larry has a slightly more balanced perspective.

As for The Sanctum, I do believe that Gary is currently playing Rift based on some things he said in a few of the short broadcasts. But yeah, they do need some fresh blood in there to talk up the game and report on the news.

I never got to see it, glad I'll have the chance now!

BUT, with that said - I'd really like to do like an mmo-champion Rifters podcast sorta thing. I could name probably 10 folks off the top of my head who are all truly dedicated to this game, just comes down to who would want to get on the camera for an hour or two and shoot the shit with us and talk all things Rift. :P

They going to get Pocket (aka famous porn star Molly Madison) to host again? Not sure I can forgive them for the BS excuse they gave for cancelling the show.

All she did was cry about Greenscale not being able to fly. She was great on the eyes, but you can tell she started playing other games like 10 times more then she played Rift.

Hmm, is this going to be taking SWTOR's spot on the show? Seeing as how there's not much left to say about the game. Nothing good anyways.
