Kara was meant to be in Vanilla, sure, but Vanilla was meant to include Outland as a zone and would allow players to level up to level 70. (note: This was only in VERY early discussions and development)
Kara was thus meant to be in Vanilla, but was a raid for players in late 60s/70.
The original expansion I believe was MEANT to have been the emerald dream, which is why there are actually portals to it all around Azeroth, which don't work. There are even quotes from Blizzard staff saying how amazing it is running round in the Dream and how great a job the designers had done. This was then scrapped so Outland could be its own whole expansion.
the emerald dream zones are actually in the game files and over the years there has been ways to bug into them (probably long gone with the new maps) it was just another of those ideas that got dropped in early development either due to time constraints or them feeling it was too much.
I don't understand why some people immediatly make the conclusion that all bosses in KZ would be identical to the current version if it actually was going to be a 40 man raid instance. Just because some bosses in there now have mechanics or rooms that do not really match 40 players doesn't mean that these exact same bosses would actually be there in a 40 man design.
On a bit of a sidenote, I really hope Blizzard will find a way to implement the crypts somehow
Like making the chess board smaller? Are you sure?
Just like chess wasn't a part of the vanilla Kara it was added to the BC version. So yeah he's sure, but misinformed since the Kara that was in the files in Vanilla was completely revamped map-wise to the BC version.
Stop bringing up bosses and chess and the layout since we already saw in the thread the original Kara was TOTALLY different and chess was probably not even there. Chess was added years later.
